And I'm delighted for the book rec above (Peace Like a River). I shall go in search of it...

I read several books lately with 'young people' protagonists. I loved everything about The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, except the end. I really enjoyed The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti (although a friend I rec'd it to wasn't as charmed), and most recently I quite enjoyed When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead.

Also read The Magicians by Lev Grossman, and consider the time well-spent, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it without reservations, similar to The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.

Unfortunately, I have no advice on the matter you actually solicited advicse on - sorry!

Definitely get Peace Like a River. It's even got brothers!I just finished reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon, by Sarah Addison Allen. I didn't love and adore it as much as her first two books, but it was good and sweet and wholesome and an easy, happy read. But now I have no books of the type I'm currently craving on hand to read, so I'm taking your list to the bookstore tomorrow.

I know! It's been forever, and that's just sick and wrong. New season has been both great and disappointing at the same time, IMO--though this week's episode is going to be cool, i can just tell :)

Oh and "fib" was supposed to be "fic." Typo, sorry :(
