Warnings: Uh, spoilers, I guess maybe spoilers if you don't know the end of DN and what happens in Episode 25. And it involves gushing about a character I like, so maybe don't read if you don't like Near?
Summary: Just me fangirling a little.
Near,
So I guess you are aware that you don't have many fans amongst the Death Note crowd. Actually, knowing you, you probably don't care about this in the least bit, but I just wanted to say that actually I really like you.
I'd rather meet you than L, I would venture to say. Although he was a great character, I have a particularly large soft spot for you, even if you are something of a brat.
Well, "because" may be a better word, given how flawed I like my characters.
Anyway. L's death was, indeed, tragic, and it's very sad that he didn't live to see Kira be defeated, but I'm glad he got replaced by someone like you. Although you would, I suppose, be an inadequate replacement for L, that's not the place you hold in my heart. I like you as your own character, as N rather than L, and I almost wish you'd been around longer.
(Also, the way you beat Light? Friggin' awesome. Way to avenge L! Your task force really, really rocks, as well.)
