Heh Filipino would have been my first guess. Other than that I would venture some south eastern Asian nation. Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand or somewhere around there. It's hard to guess such things

yeah, you're right about the SE Asian; more specifically, Laos.
It seems pretty obvious that you are beautiful, and since it seems this is the first time you've openly revealed pictures about yourself I'm wondering why this is?
Well, first, I don't post full photos of me in my icons and public entries because I don't want people I know in person to recognize me and see that this is my journal. But I know even as friends only entries, I rarely post photos, so that leads to the next question...
I've known plenty of beautiful women who don't see themselves as attractive because of low self esteem, depression etc. Are you just self conscious about it? Or is the other way? That you're afraid of how people judge you based on your looks and thus lose sight of who you are? It's a combination of both. I honestly have no idea how I look to other people. I can be a bit self-conscious and feel I am unattractive. But I get little compliments now and then which seems to fade away some of my previous insecurities. So now I think I look ok, not

Hurray for being right! Err of sorts I guess, hey narrowing it down to a continental region is good right? Actually I'm probably better than most at discerning race for some reason. I never understood the assertion that all asian's (or any group) look the same when this is clearly not so. I always thought it odd someone couldn't tell a Japanese from a Chinese but whatever.
If globalization continues in 500-1000 years there won't be race anymore just ethnicity. (I'm using the sociological distinctions between "race" and "ethnicity".)

So now I think I look ok, not good or bad, just plain average. All due modesty aside calling you "average" is an insult. Which lends credence to the view that your self image is damaged by self esteem/

As for a reason: Well don't you like seeing pictures of friends and acquantices? There is the whole aesthetic side associated with friendship and it's nice to have that..
..I only see hubris/vanity as a problem. If you find reassurance in compliments about your appearance (and let's be honest, who doesn't?). What's wrong with accepting that? This doesn't mean going out of your way to acquire them. It simply means there's nothing wrong with accepting praise that is honestly giving and beneficial.
There's always a balance that must be strike I think. Humility is just the opposite extreme of hubris if you ask me. A form of moderation here seems more beneficial. As always individual situations have to be judged individually.
I'll have to agree with that.
Ah, I'll shut up now. I talk to much. sorry.
No, I enjoy reading what others have to say. And you seem to be very good at analyzing people and understanding them better than they do themselves. Heh, it's interesting, you'd probably make a decent psychologists.
