There is a very sad-looking young lady sitting on one of the Nexus couches. She has a small electronic device in her hands that she keeps turning over and over as if it were a worry doll or a prayer bead.

She raises her gaze, just a little, at the question. "I don't think you can," she murmurs, almost apologetically. "Maybe... maybe if you can see with your own eyes that whatever is keeping you prisoner is really gone. But even then..."

"What you can see isn't always the truth."

"Yes, that's right." She sounds a little surprised and looks up even more. Her eyes are red-rimmed; she'd been crying, before, probably for a while, but she wasn't currently. "Do you think it's possible to ever know the truth?"

She frowns a little at the sad eyes.

"Everybody has their own truth, I think."

Okay, now this was a question he knew how to answer.

"When there are none in your life to burden you with their concerns, no attachments to things outside of yourself to hold you back, and you are strong enough so that no-one possesses the power to force your actions... Then, and only then, are you truly free."

He knows from experience, you see.

"So independence is a kind of freedom?"

"If you are dependent. If you are depended upon.

How can you call yourself free?"

It seems perfectly obvious, in his eyes.

"Is it selfish to be free and alone?"

"True freedom might not be an attainable goal. Unless you're living in utopia, absolute freedom would require you to abandon all ties to the world." Wanda realizes she sounded harsher than she meant to, there. Her voice softens and she offers a faint smile. "But I think any time you have a chance to live for yourself, make your own choices, is freedom worth cherishing."

"There are different ways to abandon ties with the reality of the world."

I don't think I've ever met someone who wasn't restricted by something...

((Finally saw the movie. :D Was worried I was too late to run into any of the muses. :) )
