Fic: Owl of the Waste Places

Okay, I did it. Because I have so much time on my hands right now, I stayed up all night and well into the morning writing this thing. But I do feel more sane now, if 30 IQ points dumber for lack of sleep. I'm fighting a writing block on originals, and the sneaky way to do it is write about OCs from SPN fics ( Read more... )

Your writing is always just so beautiful, seriously. I loved this insight into Sarah - she's such an interesting character! I know not many people on here will read original fic but consider me a fan, so I'd definitely read more original writings from you!

Aw, thanks, darling :D I'm happy you liked Sarah and remembered her. And yeah, maybe not many people will read but that's what SPN fic is for. Thank you ♥

. . . holy cow, woman, how'd you do that? This is all phantasmagoric and weird and Edgar-Allan-Poe-tripped-out-on-absinthe and fascinating and BEAUTIFUL. I would love to know more about these two. Lots more! If you ever feel the need to write another chapter on Sarah and Darren (I even adore the analysis of his name, because, dang, that's genius), by all means, do carry on. I'd sure as hell read it.

LOL, that reference to John W. is most definitely not obscure. That there was one of my favorite trippy scenes from "The Witch is Dead." :DDD

(Cow? Where?? *escapes into the sea*)

Thank you so much! I'm very pleased with the way the style of it turned out, and to know that you liked it too is awesome.

John Winchester cannot be chased out of a fic for anything!

I really like this. There's a great sense of mood, and the subdued quasi-horror of the casualness of Sarah's cruelty to children and the imagery worked for me. There were some particularly good lines - I especially liked “Darren Leigh”, therefore, is a self-destructive sort of name. It’s a name that lays waste to itself and also all of the flower/growth references worked through - the kiss like green grapes, the oranges on the head, even outside of Sarah's bodily morphing.

Also, I know this isn't SPN, but the tomato and rice soup moment at the end made me laugh - comfort for the evil as well as the good.

Thank you! I'm flattered that you checked it out and that you liked it.

Haha, SPN can never be chased out of a fic where it even marginally belongs! :D I was gonna make it chicken noodle but decided Sarah wouldn't like it, so tomato and rice it is. Sounds like comfort food for everyone.

Awesome! SO AWESOME.

I love your writing, chica. It's beautiful. And I totally wouldn't mind flora coming out of my body (does that make me weird, idk. probably just an Oregonian, lol).

TBI ftw!

Simply fabulous. NOW GET BACK TO STUDYING YOUR AUTONOMIC DRUGS

Aw, thank you :D And it totally would be an Oregonian thing to grow your own flowers and mushrooms from your body.

Back to autonomics!

the flora growing from sarah's body kind of squicks me, but it is such a fabulous magical realism thing and fits the weird dreamy feel of the fic that i certainly can't complain. and seriously, this fic is so weird and so gorgeous and so full of such lovely phrases. i too loved the analysis of darren's barren name. and i really liked that sarah doesn't come across as a monster, even tho she's clearly not a good witch.

i'd say this particular original fic experiment was a success. :D

(i assume the moose that stepped on sarah's head is a john reference and not a sam one, as sam would've only been a wee moose in 1988. a mooselet.)

:D Thank you! Yaaaay, I'm pretty happy with it as far as original fic experiments go. Kudos for catching the John Winchester reference without knowing the original story! He got turned into a moose, which was in the end a bad idea. *google baby moose* Aw, that thing is ridiculously cute ♥
