I was leaving the bar tonight and this cat came up to me and starting meowing and rubbing against my legs.  I told her to shoo, but she refused.  I opened the car door to get in, and she jumped right in

Cat's don't normally need any training at all to use a litter box. You can usually just set them in it, and their instincts takes over. My advice is to pick up some litter on the way home so (s)he doesn't get used to the dirt.

Yeah, I think I'll do that. She used the dirt box w/o any prompting from me and then tracked dirt all over!

Not sure. Nothing has struck me yet. Personality wise, she's a noisy girl. She's constantly meowing and she purrs just by being close. She's very affectionate. Maybe I should name her after a very loud adult movie star?

Yeah, a basset hound was my plan. But I chickened out. I didn't get this cat as much as she got me...

Cats are also the lower-maintenance of the two pet options. My dad does housecalls if you need a vet.
