"Junsu, do you want something to eat?" Changmin asked, "Since we're here we might as well take a snack to go."
"It's fine, I can wait till' dinner." I say sincerely. "But thank you for asking."
"Nonsense, let's go eat."
If he wasn't going to take no for an answer, why did he ask? Changmin grabs my hand and drags me to the line, only to be intersected by Yoochun.
"Didn't you have something you wanted to discuss?" Yoochun asked with a smile.
"Ohh, you don't beat around the bush. I like that." Min smirks, looking at Yoochun. "Actually, I was about to confront you about those pictures you asked for. I didn't know you'd use them to blackmail Yunho, so I'll be asking for them back."
"I'll have to decline, I'm sorry." He says with a smile of sympathy. But it's obviously not-so-sympathetic.
"Well, that's a shame. I guess the only way to counter blackmail, then, is to blackmail. I'll have fun digging around for things you did." Min giggles.
"Oh... What a shame, it'll be a hard time finding any thing about me." Which was true, considering the fact that Yoochun conquered in both academics and sports. "Besides, I got those photos in a fair manner."
"Indeed, you did, but if you intend to hurt Yunho." He says, inching towards Yoochun, "I promise you I'll make your life a living hell-- as well as the life of Kim Jaejoong. Because it seems like you treasure his life more than your own."
I squeeze between the small space between Yoochun and Changmin, in order to save Min. Because, I mean, does this guy know who he's messing with? And threatening Jaejoong in front of him, of all things?!
"Ooh, sounds fun." Yoochun smiled. What's scary is, that smile was one a child would say when they were told they were going to an amusement park.
"Right?" Min says with the same smile.
"Yoochun!" I whisper into his ear frantically. "Dude he's threatening Jaejoong. Just give him the damn photos!"
He silences me by putting a finger on my lips and turns to Changmin.
"But to be completely honest, Jaejoong's someone who you can't measure up to, knowing you. Plus, the development is going on pretty well."
What 'development'?
"Wow, twisted and perceptive. Was this your plan?"
"Not in the bit. But I was seventy five percent sure it would happen."
"Strange, I swear you had a strong interest in him." Changmin says amused. "But, besides that point, I'm jealous that you speak so highly of Kim Jaejoong. But to say that he's 'someone I can't measure up to' makes me want to test him." He says laughing.
"I have the perfect test, actually." Yoochun says, handing a fifty dollar bill to Changmin and dialing someone on the phone.
"Jaejoong-ah," Yoochun speaks into the phone, "Junsu isn't feeling well, so we've decided not to stay for dinner, so don't buy the ingredients for anything yet. In fact, Changmin said he'd buy the ingredients and bring them over... It's fine, we'll come over for dinner another day.... No, I don't want to risk you getting sick as well... but I can call you tonight... Yeah. Okay. I miss you already!" Click.
He sounded like he was talking to his lover.
"Buy ingredients, something you want for your favorite dish, and go over there. Junsu and I will be heading off now."
"Are you sure? What if I want him to make something he doesn't know how to make?" Changmin asked.
"It'll be fine." Yoochun says, nonchalant as always. "But I can assure you you won't have a problem with Jaejoong after tonight."
"It may be hard to believe, but I do have some things I prioritize over food." Min says, a bit offended.
"Wow, that is hard to believe. But I'm pretty sure you'll see a good show tonight." Yoochun laughs.
"You sure have an amusing way to get your kicks, but I can't say I blame you. Actually, we might be two halves of the same heart. Even our interests in toys are the same," he says grabbing a lock of my hair and twirling it around his finger, to which Yoochun tried swatting away, but failed.
I have to give Min some credit, he's pretty swift.
"Earlier, you were saying something until Jaejoong interrupted you... something like, 'If I insist on touching someone..?' Would you like to continue with what you were saying?"
Yoochun remains silent, and Changmin laughs.
"Well, then, I'll be heading off. Bye Su." Min says, taking a step toward me.
The scene plays in slow motion: Just as Changmin was about to leave me a kiss on the cheek, Yoochun lunged forward and kissed him... on the lips.
Wait what?
"I was going to say, 'If you insist on touching someone, I'd prefer it'd be me.'" Yoochun said with a smile and a wink, amazingly composed.
What's more surprising is Changmin's not even fazed.
"Touche. If it weren't for the whole, 'you're-blackmailing-Yunho thing,' we could actually be pretty good friends."
"Well, although messing with my cousin is fun, I wouldn't go as far as to make him live with a monster. Because I love my cousin!" The way Yoochun says the last part makes it sound utterly fake. Min just laughs.
"Who are you, exactly, to Jung Yunho?" I ask, a bit confused.
"Shim Changmin, Yunho's best friend-- since forever." He says, walking away and giving a slight backward wave, leaving me alone with Yoochun.
I can't help but note that he exits like Yoochun as well. But rather, there are more important things to worry about.
"Will Jaejoong be fine?" I ask concerned. "Maybe you should give the pictures back, we can't really endanger Jae for some lame pictures..."
"Su, Jae will be just fine. On the other hand... Just how slow are you?"
"Huh?" I ask, confused.
"It was obvious Changmin was going for the kill, and you were just going to let him? I'm appalled. And allowing him to call you Su... Really, I'm hurt." His smile says he's joking but something behind his voice tells me he's not really joking.
"Uh... I'm sorry?" What 'kill?' Did he mean that kiss?
"Not good enough," Yoochun pouts.
I sigh. "Then, what do I have to do?"
Why can I never resist that evil pout?
"Let me sleep in the same bed as you tonight!" Yoochun exclaims.
"What the hell, no!"
"Then, hold my hand for the rest of today."
"Yoochun, we'll get a lot of stares and..."
"Let's go buy you a wig. I'm sure no one will min--"
"No!"
We exit the restaurant, and Yoochun runs off, going to the store across the street, leaving me behind but coming back four minutes later.
"Hand, Su." He says and I comply, wondering where the hell he was going with this. It felt like he was pinching my ring finger.
When I look at my hand again, I notice the difference: a ring.
"Yoochun, what the hell is this?"
"A symbol of our undying love!" He says, pointing to his own hand which had a ring on it as well. I try to take it off, but fail. What the hell?
"Just your size. I knew it. I got a half a size smaller so you'd have trouble taking it off."
"How did you even put it on, then!?"
"Junsu, you're forgetting who I am," He says, laughing. "I'm Micky Yoochun, the impossible is an every day thing for me."
I'd call him cocky, but the sentence coming from Yoochun's mouth is just honesty.
"Oh, and if you take it off, you'll have hell to pay." He says with a delighted smile while grabbing my hand.
"Yoochun, let go------"
"Su. Let's go home."
I stop fussing when I hear the word home.
It's a scary and sad thought that from now on, my 'home' is a place where evil resides.
"Oh yeah, and Yoochun?" I ask, remembering something.
"Hm?"
"What did you mean by 'development?' I mean, I think you were talking about Jaejoong and Yunho, right?"
"Junsu, let's go eat out before we go home." Yoochun smiles his eerie smile once again. Although he avoided answering my questions, I already knew half the answer.
Yes, he was talking about Jaejoong and Yunho.
The 'development' Yoochun was talking about, was what I was unsure about.
But I had a feeling I should pray for Yunho and Jaejoong's sake.
X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X-X
"Chunnie? ---What? Is he okay? Oh, that's nice of him, but maybe I should make dinner another night, maybe I should go home with you guys? ...Then, should I make him some soup before you both leave? ... Okay, call me tonight. Take care of him. Miss you too." Click.
"Tell me honestly now, what's the relationship between you and Yoochun. That guy's so damn overprotective and I mean, you can't tell me that phone call is a normal conversation between friends." I say, astonished at the phone call. Didn't Yoochun just see Jaejoong just twenty minutes ago? And who the hell is "Chunnie?"
"Well, if you're suggesting that we're more than friends, there's truth in that. We're-----"
"I'm living with my cousin's boyfriend?!"
"--best friends. Jeez, Yunho, at least let me finish my sentence."
"Well, you can't blame me for jumping to conclusions. You said he was your ideal... person."
"You sound butt-hurt." Jaejoong smirks, and I blush.
"I am not! Maybe I'm just not a big fan of my cousin..."
"If that's so, then today's your lucky day. He went home with Junsu, because Su wasn't feeling well. So that means it's you, me, and Changmin tonight. He's going to drop off the ingredients later today, so we're off the hook for shopping."
"Hey, I never agreed to have dinner with you! I still have..."
"Oh, another cheap date?"
I gasp.
"You! You're so rude!" I say, hurt.
"I think you're the rude one, taking using those girls for food and entertainment." He says this like it's a fact, which angers me.
"Using? You have no idea what you're talking about." I say, appalled. "None of those girls know me personally, and yet they insist on saying they love me. Some just use me as an object to show their status. How can I take them seriously? In my reality, there's no 'true love'."
"Jung Yunho," he sighs, grabbing my hand and walking toward our apartment complex. "You just haven't met someone truly interesting yet."
"D-don't get me wrong, I'm fine with that. I mean, my fan girls worship me, which works for me." How can he hold someone else's hand so easily?
"Hm, is that so?" He says tightening his hold on my hand when I try to slowly break away. "Is it okay then, if I call your bluff?"
"When I find someone truly interesting, I'll let you know." I say sarcastically and he smiles a bit.
Jaejoong and I walk in silence until we get to the apartment, but he enters first. I lie to him and tell him I need to smoke. I find myself dialing my date's number.
"Ah, I'm sorry, I won't be able to make it tonight, something came up. Bye." I say quickly before hanging up.
My mind trails off to the conversation Jaejoong and I had minutes before.
Someone interesting?
My resonating heart says I've already found that 'someone.'
