Your father must mean a lot to you... if you bothered to remember his birthday and prepare a celebration for him even when he isn't here.

Well, he never made it to his party back home either, so it's not all that different. But yeah, I love him more than anything!

A working man, then. That much is to be respected. My parents never made much of an impression in my eyes for the same reason. They weren't really there.

... But you forgive your father for his absence regardless.

I don't think there's anything to forgive him for, is there? I mean, he only does all that for me.

That's considerate of you. If you need help, I would be more than happy to volunteer.

Really? Thanks! I've never tried making anything bigger than a one-person party before, so help will be awesome.

So you need help with quite a bit then.

Yeah...but I'll try my best, anyway! The party'll only be big if there's a lot of people helping.

Um...oh! I was thinking of putting up pretty colored paper shapes on the walls and stuff. Does that sound good? Or you could help with flowers!

[Coming home from a walk around town and a trip to the market, Dakki notices that there's a distinctly un-droned-looking kid sitting out on the porch of the house across the street. Interesting. It was good to know your neighbors in a place like this, so...]

Hello.

[Dakki jaunts across the street and smiles at the girl, standing at the end of the walkway to the house.]

It's a nice day to be out in the sun, hmm? What're you writing?

[She looks up from her writing at the sound of that voice, giving a curious glance and a smile to the stranger.]

Hi! [She glances down at the book in her hands again at the question, closing it with a definite thump.] This is my diary. I'm writing about Mayfield in it.

Ah. A diary is a nice thing to have. Especially in a place like Mayfield.

[The girl seems friendly and open to further talk, so Dakki proceeds up the walk and to the porch.]

My name's Dakki, by the way. I live across the street with my friend Gat. What's your name?

[Smiling, she offers a hand to the girl, for a handshake.]

[The diary receives a fond pat when Dakki gives her praises, and Yonah's smile grows just a little bit wider.]

My name's Yonah! It's great that you get to live with a friend, I wish I could do that. [Aand after a moment's pause, she accepts that hand as well.]

Seein' as how my birthday's nowhere near September, I was kind of surprised until you said it was for your real dad.

I don't normally do this...but...if ya want I could give you a hand.

[Claire wasn't listening to the phone conversation from around the corner, nope.]

Wow, really? I'd love it if you helped! It'll be super fun, I know it!

We can throw a party for your birthday too, when it happens.

[Because Yonah is considerate! And completely unbothered by your eavesdropping, Daddy Number 2.]

Just let me know what you want me to do 'n I'll do it.

Thanks kid, though I'm not really one for fancy parties.

[You're the best daughter ever~.]

You can help me make the cake!

And it doesn't have to be a fancy party. It could just be us if you want.

[Secret: Yonah sucks at cooking.]
