But seriously, I would whine about the amount of time between updates, but how CAN I when each chapter is such perfection? You write them SO WELL and the progression in their relationship is happening so naturally.
For some reason this just KILLS me "Jeff feels her fingers trailing up and down his spine like she’s trying to map out his body and it’s innocent and erotic and suddenly really fucking terrifying." It's so good. It shows how invested he is in her, and if/WHEN it happens between them, it's going to be real and not just a fling.
Please update soon. Pretty please.

I really never mean for it to take so long between updates but if there was a gold medal for procrastination I would win it every time. I'm terrible. But I'm so happy people are still reading along with it!
That line was actually the very first line I wrote in that scene and the basis upon which I wrote everything else so that's awesome that you pointed it out. It was important to me to show how this was affecting Jeff and that it wasn't just a random make-out.
I promise I'll try to get the next chapter up ASAP! Thank you again for the lovely comment!

Thank you! I'm glad you liked Garrett and Alan. The tertiary characters on this show are so unique and have such specific personalities that it's a lot of fun to write them.
And yup, Jeff is totally transparent. Except to maybe Annie who wouldn't have even picked up that invited her to the party out of jealousy because Bar Guy really was no big deal to her.
I'm going to try and update much sooner this time! *pinkyswear*

SO glad you liked Alan here. I watched Accounting for Lawyers about 75 times in a row just trying to get a feel for his character. And as I told Mary several times, he's a lot of fun to write because he's just a ridiculous person and since we've only seen his character once I could kind of take his character and run with it.
And I love writing Britta/Jeff banter too. Sometimes I think that if I didn't love Jeff/Annie so much I could probably ship Jeff/Britta pretty seriously. Shhh, don't tell anyone.
This, to me, is one of the strongest images in the entire chapter, and I'm not even sure WHY.THANK YOU. I had been a little worried that they were almost too couple-y in that moment. (Seriously, try as I might to write Jeff and Annie platonically they always end up in moments like this. There's no controlling these two ( ... )

“Wha--” She starts before he interrupts her.
“You should come.”
Ha! Jeff totally thought it was Bar Guy texting Annie! You're so obvious, Jeff! Just tell her you like her! But, on the other hand, I really like the slow buildup of this :D

Thank you for the comment! That slow buildup will comes to a head very soon.
