I'm so glad you enjoyed it! And that you liked the use of Garrett. He's only of my favorite tertiary characters and it never ceases to crack me up how everything he says sounds angry.

Funny story about that National Lampoon reference: I didn't even mean to do it. I threw it in there thinking, haha, what if Pierce is the kind of person to totally go all Clark Griswald at the holidays? And only THEN did it occur to me that DUH, Clark Griswald. Pierce Hawthorne. Kind of have something in common. I think my brain has some kind of disconnect between the Chevy Chase of the 80's and the Chevy Chase of present day.
