He stared at her for a moment, forehead creased and now she was seeing concern and oh God, maybe even… But she needed to be pissed right now. She needed to hold onto that anger. It was the only thing that was going to get her through this moment, hurdle her past crippling embarrassment.

Jeff grabbed his guns and reached for the door, looking resigned. “Annie, I’m sorry.”
