So I was flipping back through past LiveJournal entries during Governor's School [Cue nostalgia] and found this quote that I consider to be quite thought-provoking in an only semi-angsty way. So here it goes:

personally ive found that needing someone or being needed by someone is the quickest road to a death of a relationship. being wanted is much rarer. if you need someone, really like oxygen need someone, you dont even have the luxury of wanting that person. its completely trumped, and you cant walk away, not if you wanted to, not if you needed to. a famous rabbi said that the secret of love is twofold. first, you have to choose that person every day. not because you need them, but because you choose them over any other, all the days of your life. and second, you need to make sure that person knows that they are indispensable in your life. that they fill a role no one else does, or they are, as a person, something no one else is. thats not need. its premeirship if that makes sense. they come first. it might be flattering if someone says "i dont need to know what else is out there, i need you" but its more flattering, and more lasting if someone says "i know whats out there, i ve had some of it, i choose you"

Post-wretched relationship, I can tell you the BEST gift is to be chosen, as both a want and a need, but not 100% of either or both, which may not make sense, but its as clear as I can put it.

Remember this - drink too much water, it will poisin you, breathe too pure oxygen, and you will choke, eat too much, and your body will begin to buckle.
