I bought a tb mare (Lady) 4 months pregnant and 600 pounds underweight. On april 11 2004 lady had a beautiful chestnut filly , celeste adia (heavenly gift). She didnt seem right , we thought she was just early( we didnt know when lady had been bread) Sadly , 4 months later (4 is not a good number for her) lady was to skinny to still be nursing(not for lack of food) and if we didnt wean the baby quickly , lady would have died. so the baby was weaned. about 1 week after that Lesty's tummy swelled up really big. the vet said it was ulcers , that a lot of babies get them when there weaned quickly like lesty was. so we put her on ulcer medication hoping she would get better. during that time lesty coliced almost everynight. the vet said just to wait , that the medicine would make her better.... so we waited , we didnt want to give up on this wonderful little filly too soon. now almost 10 months later , she is still not better. she colics about 5 days a week sometimes twice a day. so the vet said today "well , shes not better.". well that made me real happy. i had been telling her this for about 8 months now. the vet said "She might have a hole in her stomach and her intestines might be going in and out of the hole. it will only be about $1,000 for them to see whats wrong with her" . I dont have that kind of money right now, i am working two jobs as is to take care of both of my horses. Well i called the school and they are willing to give me a deal because of her mom being a rescue and all she , and my family has been through the past year( my father almost died , his liver failed). so it will only be $500 for them to see what is wrong with her. BUT they are busy for a month and a half. My vet said she might not make it that long. so we'll see what happens..... Well that was my little rant. I'll put some pictures in here to make you all happy.
