Ugh, that's disgusting behavior. Your boss should understand that it is well within your right to make it know to Ali that his behavior is not welcome and that it was considered harassment should he continue.
If Ali had a problem with it being done when and where it was then he should have considered that maybe J did not want to be publicly humiliated either.
I don't know about Australia but in the USA all employees have the right to a safe work environment that is free of sexual harassment.
US laws also protect against someone retaliating against you for reporting the indecent (firing, demotion, reassignment to a less desired position)
I personally think you did a good thing, if I were in your shoes I would have done the same.
I don't know about you but I feel that if I am the highest level employee present at the moment then I would feel personally responsible for protecting the employees left in my care.
