Hiyori never really understood heroes. She'd flipped through those human comics as a shinigami, men in capes and spandex, constantly braying about their bravery and selflessness.
It wasn't that she related more with the villains, either. They were shells; embodying things that humans felt, but could never indulge in. These superheroes and heroines were saving humans from themselves. Self-indulgent and...
The heroes didn't always win. As a shinigami she knew this, and it bothered her. She’d seen friends killed, ripped apart by Hollows right in front of her. She’d seen black-robed spirits killed by shinigamis. Who were the heroes?
Now, though, that didn’t matter. After all, happy endings and saving people, that was the prerogative of heroes. Maybe they can save you, maybe that can’t. As a Vizard, she could care less.
