All Quiet on the Northern Front is a good movie. Dead Poets Society is also amazing, purely because of Robin Williams' genius. Shakespeare in Love is fabulous, but only if you're a theatre buff. You really have to pay attention to that thing.

I'd say The Color Purple too, but I've never seen the movie. The book's a good read though.

I'd suggest A Beautiful Mind, Ghost, and Witness. Hmm... also... Apollo 13, Dead Poets Society, and The Color Purple.

I watched "Tootsie" in Media Studies back in the day, you should get some amusement from it ('80's crossdressing)
The Wizard of Oz (but listen to pink floyd with it)
