Stefan Salvatore
The Vampire Diaries

"So you show up like Van Helsing?"

Stefan's a good guy, as vampires go. Their first few meetings in Mystic Falls were a bit tumultuous because Alaric was hunting Stefan's brother in order to kill him. Considering Alaric may have had a slight general hatred towards vampires (and a slight obsession with them after spending two years of his life researching everything about them), but he eventually warmed up to the nicer of the Salvatore brothers. Strangely enough, though Stefan is the nicer one, Alaric doesn't spend much time around him. He's definitely someone Alaric would help if he ever asked, though, and he has before - especially with weaponry. Alaric is basically like Stefan's black market vampire-hunting weapons dealer (and sometimes his teacher when he decides to actually pose as a teenager). He might be a little annoyed that Stefan skips his class all the time, but he figures a guy who was alive during the Civil War doesn't need lectures on it.

Damon Salvatore
The Vampire Diaries

"Damon would've wondered what the hell they were doing dragging in a self-taught vampire hunting high school history teacher, but that right there kind of answered itself, didn't it?"

If nothing else can show how forgiving a person Alaric is, Damon can. Being the sole reason Alaric researched vampires and trained himself for two years in order to kill him, logic would dictate that Alaric hated Damon. And he did, for a long time - Damon killed his wife, turned her into a vampire, and then slept with her. So, yeah. He was bitter. That bitterness went far enough for Alaric to try to kill him, only to get killed in return. The adage "Keep your enemies closer" applies here. Despite the fact that Damon killed him, he started basically blackmailing help from Alaric in exchange for information about his not-so-dead wife. Even after Alaric found out Isobel chose to leave him and become a vampire, Alaric's unsteady relationship with Damon turned into a partnership of sorts. Damon is, surprisingly, someone he helps out quite a lot, usually acting as his personal spy and updating him on dealings that happen in Mystic Falls, as well as supplying him with weapons. Over time, Alaric kind of realized part of Damon is still human, which is why he does eventually show concern about his well-being. If nothing else, there's definitely a sense of empathy between them for being jilted by their lovers.

As for Damned, there’s a whole new complication to their already uneasy alliance because Alaric has a month of memories that Damon does not. While he firmly believes that Landel’s is some sort of vampire construct and that Damon was compelled by an Original to forget the last month, Damon is not so easily convinced. Alaric has tried to avoid the topic of Katherine returning to Mystic Falls as long as he can, but he knows it can’t be avoided forever.

Elena Gilbert
The Vampire Diaries

"You enjoyed that? Rubbing it in to Alaric Saltzman?"

Alaric begins as Elena's replacement history teacher and accidentally finds out his wife was lying to him through their marriage and had a child before him, technically making Elena his step-daughter. That relationship doesn't exist and is never mentioned because there are a lot of issues regarding Isobel on both sides, so Elena begins only as a disconnected worry for Alaric once he figures out she's dating a vampire. He warns her against staying with Stefan; she doesn't listen. Teenagers, no big surprise. However, he begins to date her aunt and she becomes a bit more important to him than his other students. After spending time with her in order to tell her about Isobel, he kind of quietly develops some protective, fatherly feelings for her... but he has never mentioned them to anyone. It just seems kind of redundant when she has two vampires to protect her. Like the Salvatores, Elena is one of the few people Alaric will help at the drop of a hat.

Anise Tatlin
Tales of the Abyss

" Maybe he was holding back and acting pleasant because he was in the presence of someone so cute and delicate-looking! That was a definite possibility."

Anise is the first person Alaric meets in Landel's. Being a teacher with an actual appreciation for kids, Alaric was a total sucker for her cute act. She seemed genuinely concerned about him, even giving him a few vague warnings about being alone with the staff. Though they didn't make sense to him at the time, he definitely appreciates the warnings as well as her bubbly personality. He's kind of amazed at her ability to switch from deadly serious to that childish innocence, and he was silently pleased by how damn clever she was. Overall, she was definitely someone he wouldn't mind talking to again, and he suspects there's something to respect about a kid who could handle being in an insane asylum that dropped tear gas on her head.

Dr. Henry "Indiana" Jones
Indiana Jones

"Indy stifled a sigh. Another moviegoer, it looked like. At least this guy wasn't denying his existence or quoting lines at him."

Suffice to say, the last person Alaric expected to have as a roommate was Harrison Ford... from the 1980's. Alaric honestly has no idea what to think about Indiana - did Harrison Ford go through a time machine and slowly believe he was his character? Is this guy really Indiana Jones? (Yeah, right.) Since he can't really wrap his mind around the concept, Alaric just reacted with how he does to things that don't make sense: he silently accepts them. He's surprisingly good at not digging around for information when it's not being offered.
