Summer music goodness

This weekend has been a fun one, and by weekend I mean from Thursday to now. The Thursday night ASCAP show was great, I can't recall anything bad about the evening other than my camera's memory card running out of space ( still got around 300 pics and a bunch of movies though). The Whigs, Trances Arc, and All Tomorrow's Parties all put on great ( Read more... )

Pretty cool, it really loads way faster than I had expected on this crap connection. Do you need me to email you anything? I just checked my yahoo mail account and apparently one can send 10 meg files now. I was going to do the desktops this week but forgot what numbers we picked out for it as well as the font, can you email me the info? What's up with guy's server?

I noticed your reference to the neo-hippies. I thought I was only the only person that called them that. Old hippies are cool...but neo-hippies, thats a horse of a different color (thats just my opinion anyway).

Yeah, the old hippies at least had a purpose they were working for and were trying to do something new, these kids that don't bathe for weeks and and have medicated themselves into being unable to remember what they were doing 10 minutes ago and therefore think that they are "so wise and in tune with the earth" serve pretty much no purpose besides revenue for jam bands and obstacles for keeping everybody else from getting a table in good restaurants since they pretty much camp out for hours.

hippies huh?! stupidpractice June 26 2004, 09:14:32 UTC
you're probably going to ask who asked me for my two cents, but this is one my pet peeves. those kids are NOT hippies. psuedo-hippies maybe. confused children stripmining their parents pop culture becuase ours is empty and nililistic.

as for the original hippies. a bunch of misguided sellouts. they never accomplished their goals. odd, since their method was to get fucked up and screw all the time.

please forgive me for this rant. i noticed that we shared an interest in the "interests" section of the user info. it was die brucke. you were the only one so far that wasn't still in highschool. but, hey reply to this if you want. i was just up too early and exploring this livejournal stuff.

No, I agree with you, those kids aren't hippies and in my opinion are pretty much less than worthless along with their culture. If I had a dollar for every time one of those burn-outs tried to tell me and whoever else is around them at the time how to live life and "what mother nature says" I would be set for life. The thing I do concede to the originals is that they were willing to try something new socially at the time (in the beginning at least), whether or not it was a result of strong convictions or being fried out of their mind is up to debate, I tend to think it the latter but since I wasn't around at the time I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I am not saying that I agree with them, in fact I share none of their beliefs, I just give them credit for the effort ( ... )
