Freshers Week attracts weak freshers only...

If I ever hear my soon-to-be-roommate utter a phrase along the lines of, "you don't mind sleeping in the kitchen so [name of significant other] and I can have some time to ourselves, do you?" I will explode. Literally. The roommate will have to clean shattered bits of Alicebrain from the walls ( Read more... )

Thats sounds very similer to the freshers week that was on offer when i was at uni! Which was a waste of time unless you wanted to dance around with glow sticks to repetitive music thats sounds like a demo on a casio keyboard*sigh*

You should find some like minded souls though, its a big uni:)

I was going to write a freshers-type rant today but I decided it wasn't worth the effort. Instead I shall probably take it out on all the new kids (steal their sweets, poke them, etc.) Leeds seems to have some obsession with Tim Westwood, Mike is always complaining about his presence. At Sheffield we get the goblin-esque Mr Steve Lamacq four-times-a-year (and he usually brings the ever so dire Pink Grease with him), he was once also spotted drinking Smirnoff Ice and letching onto girls in the Leadmill. I do hope a similar fate doesn't befall you with aforementioned "influential hip hop figure"...

I found Steve Lamacq's profile on Friendster the other day. The man doesn't really mince his words about his dislike for Zane Lowe...

Hey, tell Mike to meet up with me, so we can join up and get rid of Tim Westwood. *evil look*

Hi, random stalker from the way of Andrzej's journal! *waves*

Soulcircus does sound ace, but considering I'm in Reading for another week, it will have to wait for a later date. I take it you're just in Leeds for the holidays, yeah?

Providing your room-mate doesn't do it every night, isn't the teensiest bit unreasonable not to give them some privacy?

It's highly unlikely that their significant other will have a shared room as well, but they can bloody well do it there! Otherwise, I might let them do it on occasion. If they offer bribes.

The question is, if they're not bothered about privacy and start shagging in your room would you stay or move to the kitchen?

Found out today that the kitchen is draughty, covered with cobwebs and in the basement. So, erm, I think I might actually stay!

you're going to Leeds, right? if you're moving in on the 18th like i am, there's a night on at the union called the wendyhouse which does a whole load of 80s/indie/gith/alternative stuff. plus, there's the phono bar close to the station.

Yep, I'm moving in on the 18th as well, and have looked at their website and it seems better than quite a lot of the union's offerings. (Initially, it looked to be all goth and industrial, which I can only take in small doses, but looking at the requests section, it's a bit of everything.) Where're you staying? It's cool to know a Leeds Uni-type on livejournal, in any case. :)

Seven minutes away from campus with your own internet connection. Pah, I'm kind of jealous, because I'm in Tetley Hall. At least it's cheap. :P

Although you'll have to see Maroon 5, so I think you deserve better living conditions than me!
