[Visitors of the library today will find something quite of the ordinary: Yomiko is not reading. Instead, she's decided to try to get into the spirit of the upcoming holiday and make the library more... Halloweenish. One of the tables now displays a number of horror novels she enjoyed and she's seated at another putting her paper mastery skills to ( Read more... )

[Jaime would probably force her to go back to work, but he's currently being way too impressed by those origami bats flying around the library. Slowly approaching her, he rubs the back of his neck.]

... That's pretty impressive.

Thank you! I'm still debating over where would be best to place them. I thought they might look nice hanging from the bookshelves, but then again they might look good perched atop the copy of Dracula I set over on the table. What do you think?

Huh. Were you planning to do anything else with the bookshelves? Because as cool as bats are, I don't know if they and a possible pumpkin exhibit might go together.

Well, the thought of spiders and webs had crossed my mind...

What's this about pumpkins? What did you have in mind, Jaime?

[Wandering Striding with purpose through the library, Damian abruptly stops at the sound of fluttering paper wings and eyes the rodents in distaste.]

Hm? Oh, of course it has to be bats...

[Picks up one of the horror novels and starts to flip through it] If you keep getting distracted you'll never have this place ready in time for Halloween...unless you plan to have your little bat friends help you do your chores (like some sort of deranged Disney princess)?

You're quite right there. I was curious to see how many bats I could manage to keep in the air at the same time. But I should get back to work!

[Noticing his distaste.] Do you think bats are too obvious? I was thinking I might try some spiders next... But I'm open to suggestions!

[Glances at the bats again, frowning slightly] No, they're perfectly suitable for the holiday, though considering your skill I think you could manage something a little more ambitious. Some Lovecraftian horror or classic monster reimagined, perhaps...[shuts the book]

But they're just paper decorations in the library. Do whatever you feel like. If you need a hand...well, I have nothing better to do.

Hmmm... [Ponders a moment, then waves an arm and uses her green construction paper to make a 7-headed Hydra.] Something more along this lines, you think?

I wouldn't say no to a helping hand! Thank you very much!

[Oh good, Ritsu likes! Yomiko's been worried about making paper golems around Ritsu since her initial trial.]

You like them?

[Well these things don't look like they want to kill him |D]

Ah! I'm sorry for interrupting you!

Oh, don't pay it another thought! I'd love any feedback you have to offer, Ritsu!

Oh! No, I was just...

Yomiko, can you do magic?

Reply

deathly_origami October 25 2009, 05:35:54 UTC
Huh? Oh, no, not magic, just papermastery... it's... erm, how do I say it... I can control paper and make it do things like this. But, only with paper, nothing else.

((OOC: Psst, are you on AIM? I have something that I think would interest you... and something I could use your opinion on. ^.^*))

[X, right now, is what one would call enchanted, rather than the negative-shock possibly suggested by the icon.]

...Wow...

Hello, Mr. X! Do you like the bats?

Reply

lights_legacy October 28 2009, 21:45:29 UTC
Yeah, but...how are they doing that? There's nothing abnormal about the paper. It's like the bats are moving by themselves.

Is this an example of magic from your world, Yomiko?

deathly_origami October 28 2009, 22:49:09 UTC
Well, not magic exactly, more like an ability. I'm what's called a papermaster, Mr. X. I've established a bond between myself and paper that allows me to manipulate and control paper to do several things. I folded the paper to resemble a bat and willed them to flap their wings and fly.
