Due to my illness, I've been asleep far more than I've been awake. I think I was awake for maybe 6 hours out of the past 24. It's the most sleep I've gotten in maybe ever, but I'm still exhausted. Here's a couple of the dreams I had though. The second is particularly weird.
-----------
I was sitting with a guy out on a set of steps at nighttime with barely any lighting. There were some other people sitting on the edge of the steps to our right. They were laughing and joking. I couldn't see anyone, including the guy next to me, as much more than a silhouette. When I pulled out a cigarette, a girl (I think maybe the only other girl there) leaned over and flicked on her lighter to light my cigarette. It was a butane torch kind of lighter, flaring blue and red. No matter how I leaned into the flame or even grabbed her hand to make sure it was steady to my cigarette, it wouldn't light. I eventually laughed and pulled away. "Fuck it, your lighter hates me."
I lit the cigarette with my own lighter and finally turned my attention back to the guy I was sitting with. We were chatting quietly (I so can't remember what about) and I was watching the clouds. They were very... strange. They moved liked they were alive, perhaps, rolling in and out of themselves. All peaches and oranges. They had unnaturally shiny highlights on them.
"The sky looks plastic tonight," I commented to the guy. He chuckled. I didn't think he understood what I meant. He leaned in and kissed me. I was really surprised, as I didn't think he was into me, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. I kissed him back.
-----------
I was about to take a shower. For some reason, an unknown friend of mine had hired a guy to play piano for me while I showered, so I could sing along. Yep. I got all ready for my shower and inwardly battled over whether to shut the door or not. I usually did, but I wouldn't be able to hear the guy as well, since he was set up just outside the bathroom. I eventually settled on closing the door most of the way, save for a tiny crack. He played John Lennon's "Imagine" as I showered. (A song I haven't listened to in ages.)
Then I went to a talk show and watched it from just off stage, behind the curtains. I guess I worked with them. The man who was guesting looked like a simple hobo, at first glance, but he was just wearing all natural clothes, things like animal skins that had grown rather ragged. He had black furred gloves and held a little puppet on a stick. He was fairly short and squat, with a scruffy beard and long hair, looking to be in his 50s, at most.
He talked about the 'modernization of Alaska.' Apparently, they had passed a law acknowledging grass as an entity, a being with a soul that it was a crime to harm. "This is what the whole world must strive for. This acceptance of the reality that runs through all creatures of Earth -- plant, animal, human. The energy, the soul. Finally, one portion of our land understands, but we must continue to spread this sentiment so as to save the world. Before it's too late."
He was interrupted a few times by several people in the packed audience cheering and clanging cow bells. "I thank you for your enthusiasm, but could I kindly ask you to allow me to talk?" He asked after this had happened for the fourth time, chuckling with obvious good-nature.
