Looking at the bloody aftermath, Akon privately thought that if anyone should have done any retreating, it should have been the shinigami captain, not the arrancar leader. But he didn't have to wonder why Zaraki-taichou hadn't elected to at least attempt an escape before emptying half of his circulatory system onto the pavement. In certain divisions, self-preservation was considered more cowardly than practical.
"It is unlikely that the identity of Unohana-taichou's killer has been established yet. Many are in shock. Some are probably grieving," he added absently, discarding the train of thought. Irrelevant. He glanced at the girl. "You saw Adaro fight? What was it like?"
From what Kenpachi had heard so far, the boy was definitely the smartest one there. Didn't ask stupid questions, got to the point, knew what was going on. His comment about bad guys always running away like pansies was fine in Kenpachi's book. He'd just let the kid keep dealing with the girl.
The twelfth division asshole, however, didn't look like he was about to leave any of them alone, especially if he didn't get any answers. Lord knows what he'd do with those answers, but Kenpachi wasn't really in enough of a state of mind to try and puzzle it out. Speaking of puzzling things out, the talk of Unohana being dead spurned the memory of the announcement delivered to him via kidou just before he had lost consciousness. No matter how annoying that woman had been, it was still a goddamn waste and a pity. Losing a captain with no replacement was never good, especially not in wartime.
Kenpachi really wanted to win this war and go the fuck home, if only because the mortal world was so shitty.
Jinta snorted so hard it almost made him topple over backwards. What was this girl thinking? Granted, she had that "I-can-kick-your-ass-with-my-little-toe" look about her, which Jinta could respect (mostly as a self-preservation thing), but what was she babbling about, running away
