Komamura could only stare in utter shock as Adaro stopped Tengen’s shikai with her own sword. It seemed almost ridiculous, the scene resembling an ant successfully halting a foot set upon crushing it. But there she was, doing just that and then sidestepping his blade so that it harmlessly crashed to the ground.
Chunks of pavement sprayed the air as Tengen clove the road, but it didn’t completely block out the sight of the stark white object now gracing her face.
‘Is that!?!’ Komamura thought to himself as Adaro rushed past him towards Kyouraku-taichou. Her reiatsu was unmistakable; it was like Tousen’s on the day he’d observed his friend transforming. It was powerful; it was terrifying; it was a travesty.
Pushing away the sudden apprehension in his chest, he pivoted around, simultaneously making Tengen’s giant form disappear as he stood to face Shunsui’s direction. Adaro was proving to be fast and powerful, but he wouldn’t let it stop him from trying to bring her bloody reign to an end.
Grasping his zanpakutou in a tight grip he rushed forward towards the pair, hoping that the 8th-Division Captain could defend against her assaults before Renji and he could get there to assist him.
Hisugaya had been about to retort to Rangiku's comment about him and Momo- Momo was in a tizzy about him? Wait, what? Then her message- Hitsugaya felt as though someone had punched him. He stared in blank shock as Shunsui shoved himself away from the table and took off. Unohana...? But how could--
He had been torn between finding Momo (who sounded so devastated) and following Shunsui to go to Unohana. He'd started to head towards Momo, but then... He sensed powerful fighting reiatsu near where that final explosion of Unohana's reiatsu had been. He'd switched directions, racing towards the group.
He didn't slow as he reached the battlefield. His sharp eyes took in the pitifully small, crumpled figure in the crater. His steps faltered slightly, his eyes turning icy cold with a fury only matched by the time he'd found Momo, apparently dead.
His gaze flicked towards the woman in red. Adaro. He bared his teeth in an unconscious, furious snarl. Seireitei, Momo, now Unohana... He ripped Hyourinmaru free, the green ribbon fluttering to the ground.
"Ban kai," he snarled, lifting the blade. The others should be able to avoid getting hurt. The temperature began to drop. "Dai Guren Hyourinmaru!" Ice instantly sprouted over his arm and off his shoulder into ice wings; a flood of ice covered the ground, reaching hungrily towards Adaro. Ice flowers circled lazily behind him, and ribbons of ice twisted up towards the sky.
Three captains and a vice captain. They must have a chance of getting rid of her at last. If not... They were in deeper trouble than he cared to think about.
The ice wings and ice-covereed floor lending him speed, he shot towards Adaro, zanpakuto swinging towards her. The ribbons of ice followed, arching up and around the area as they started to try and cage her in.
Shunsui brought up the twin swords instantly, crossing them over his torso and bracing himself as Adaro's impact brought a shudder through the metal and to his bones. Kyoukotsu caught Osovenenoso just short of his left side, the blades ringing against each other, while Katen was able to successfully defend him on the right, barring the woman's deadly hand from flesh. The new soutaichou said nothing in reply to her taunt, mouth still set in a firm line, eyes dark and uncharacteristically cold. This wasn't a time for small talk and petty insults.
The arrival of Toushirou and his immediate release of ban kai were something of a surprise, but the older captain didn't let it distract him. He hadn't anticipated a second release on the field this early, but the boy might need it. He was incredibly talented, but he was also young, and Shunsui hoped to whatever was out there that Adaro wouldn't begin to target him.
As the captain of the seventh rushed forward once again, Shunsui retaliated, lashing out with a series of swift, elegant strikes from his scimitars. The heavy swords appeared weightless in his hands, and some part of him was glad to see them in this form again. Kyoukotsu especially resonated agreement, yearning to decimate the enemy's power.
To see a bankai so early in the game surprised the young vice captain. He felt Zabimaru twitch to release, but he held back. Hopefully with three captains it would be enough to put down Adaro. Then again, with Hyourinmaru in its full frozen glory, perhaps it wasn't enough.
Not to be shown up though, Renji leapt into the air and brought Zabimaru around and sent it toward the woman's back. As the bladed weapon, cut through the air at full speed, the red head could feel the Zabimaru's hunger for first blood.
The slight chill in the air, herald to the descent of the ice-winged ban kai, sent the hairs along the back of her neck rising, or those that had not prickled up at the reiatsu that now filled the air with so many engaged in one battle. Adaro took notice of the temperature change only as an afterthought, her attention focused most on Shunsui and the elegant series of strokes that made up his counter attack.
Osovenenoso flashed through the air, her strokes strong in defence of her body, heady rings of steel against steel filling the air. The press of others around her was noted, the feeling of being pushed into a corner piqued as Komamura and Hitsugaya advanced. It was the thought that the vice captain would not stand idle in the face of such strong attacks, that he would support in the annoying way shinigami could try, that pressed Adaro to open the air more, mere moments after she had sought to close distances.
Adaro swung her blade harder against the attacks, waiting until the instant both of Shunsui's released zanpakuto struck Osovenenoso at the same instant. That spurred her into motion, rushing forward in an attempt to press Shunsui back, but only for the time it took to leap into the air, to take the escape above Shunsui.
Not the most elegant of creatures once in the air, Adaro twisted around and landed some feet away, not entirely without injury. Blades had cut along her arms, shallow cuts for all the attention she paid them, and she brushed an ever freezing ice from the length of her haori, a close call to the bit of Hyourinmaru that she had met in the air.
The odds were, perhaps, against her, but Adaro laughed and let Osovenenoso have an instant of rest against the ground. "You come close to challenging me!" she exclaimed, allowing them that small compliment. "But it is still insufficient!" Darkly-framed eyes darted from shinigami to shinigami as her next target was selected, this time the red-haired vice captain.
Adaro did not waste an instant in distractions, feet moving against ground slickened with blood and ice. Her purchase was thin, but she continued to move, circling around the shinigami as she approached Renji, blade lifted in her arms. There were risks in any attack against a nigh prehensile weapon, but it was an irritation she wished to see an end to, holding Osovenenoso as though to ram the blade into his body.
