I wrote a screenplay a year or two ago, let me share a tip that was given to me... Write your first outline scene by scene on index cards. It gives you a quick and easy way to try out different scene orders, cutting and adding scenes to see how they play out together. It really helped me with pacing and getting down to the "nitty gritty" of what I was trying to do.
