A Small Clearing in the Preserve | Saturday Morning

Saturday morning found Nico wandering the Preserve with Mrs. O'Leary. Sure, some people might find it odd to hang out with another kid's dog, no matter the strange family ties there, but Nico genuinely liked the hellhound. Once you got past the drool and the immense size, she was like any other dog - always ready for a game of catch the shield. ( Read more... )

If he wasn't making an effort to be annoyed, Apollo would have arrived in the preserve in his awesome car, with a sparkly white smile on his face and blonde hair flowing beautifully in the wind. But since he was making an effort to be annoyed he nixed the car and just popped up behind Nico with an annoyed look on his face.

But his hair was still flowing beautifully.

"What is with you and your father and the love of giant, drooly dogs?"

Nico jumped, a very human expletive falling from his lips as he jolted around to find a sun god staring at him and looking annoyed. And hot, as had been the case with Apollo since Nico could remember.

"Lord Apollo, I didn't expect you." Nico kind of wondered who Apollo was in town for and if he'd missed something good at the event the day before. "Um, I can't speak for my father, but probably because dogs are loyal. If you get past the drool they're better than most people."

"Don't go blaming other people because you're a socially awkward mess," Apollo chided. He was wonderful with people. Until they pissed him off, of course. "And of course you didn't expect me. If you had expected me that would mean you would know the future and I don't take kindly to people infringing on my job like that."

Nothing like a god talking about what would annoy him to make Nico look suddenly very uncomfortable and take on an air of chilly defense.

"I would never infringe on your job." Even if he was hoping to alter the course of a different future while acting very much in his own present. He probably shouldn't have these thoughts while in the presence of the god of prophecy.
