[Optional] Character Development and Relationship Transfer from previous RP: N/A

Personality:

Despite the years being controlled by a mage, Shale exerts a strong will and a sharp tongue that will surprise anyone who has never encountered a golem (like her) before. She can be rather impatient and prefers a quick and easy solution. With that, she has an impulsive personality that may not benefit the situation except to make it happen. An example of this is when the party meets the Lady of the Forest along with Zathrian and Shale comments, "Oh somebody please kill somebody!" Shale loves to fight. A violent solution is the most fun one to have in her opinion. She loves being able to squish things that are squishier than her (almost any living thing that isn't a golem, really) and seeing people run in fear from her. However, Shale does have a conscience and, believe it or not, is capable of logical reasoning. At the start of the Nature of the Beast quest, they party was told to obtain Witherfang's heart. Since that was the objective, Shale initially disagreed with the Warden to listen to the werewolves and would rather just kill them (since they have been throughout the quest), take the heart, and move on. However, upon learning that the curse was started by Zathrian to begin with, Shale was in favor of killing him. Rather than slaughtering him and the innocent clan however, they reached a compromise that Shale approved on. Shale learns from her mistakes and actually would apologize if she finds that she has erred in some way. Examples are shown throughout her conversations with the Warden and the other companions, such as her realizing that Wynne (and the Warden) is nothing like the arrogant and controlling mage who she once had as a master. She also apologizes to Leliana for mocking her faith.

Up until Shale meets Caradin, her gender and life before becoming a golem was pretty much a mystery to her. At first, she stated that it didn't matter to her. Upon learning that she was a (and only) female dwarven warrior who willingly volunteered herself to be a golem, Shale's views on certain things have changed, or rather, opened up. She feels kinship towards other golems even though they do not have (or lost, even) their own free will and perhaps to dwarves also. Before learning about her past, Shale preferred being a golem to being a human or dwarf or elf with all the nearly indestructible benefits a golem has. However, once she regains her memories, Shale expresses interest in regaining her squishy, mortal body again. Despite her impulsive personality, Shale's points of views on things do change once she takes the time to think about it. But her infamous hatred for pigeons and such feathery fiends is probably something that will never change.

Like many of the lovable characters in Dragon Age, Shale is smart-mouthed and prone to make witty comments. She can be impulsive, but that doesn't mean she is unable to think about her own actions. Don't let anyone else know this: under that hard, stony exterior is a soft and squishy heart (just not literally).

Skills | Powers:

Details of Shale's talents here.

As a stone golem, Shale is obviously much stronger and has more stamina/endurance than the average man. She is able to punch/squish and toss something at her opponents as well as pounding the ground to damage multiple enemies. She isn't completely invincible and suffer damage if it actually gets to her. While swords and arrows do little damage to her as they would with stone, she is vulnerable to magic unless she activates Stoneheart or Stone Aura. She can also be equipped with various crystals that aid her in elemental defense and offense.

As a golem, Shale also does not need to eat or sleep. A large weakness for her and golems in general is her control rod. Whoever wields that has complete control over her whether she likes it or not (99% of the time is definitely a "not"). Thankfully, her control rod is broken. And the Warden respects her and actually allows her to exert her free will.

First Person Sample:

It has yet to answer my question. [Shale says to the strange ferryman, who has been quiet this whole time. He could at least answer why is this little wooden boat able to hold her.]

Then let me help it! [She pulls her arm back to send a punch at him, only to realize that she is no longer on the boat and said boat is already moving away from the dock. With a frustrated groan, she was about to pick up a piece of stone to hurl it at the ferryman but stops when she notices the strange device strapped to her arm. Unbeknownst to her, it was and has been recording. She stares at it for a while. Is it a collar of some kind? That thought instantly has her pounding the thing to the ground to no avail. Is every blasted thing indestructible here?!

She scans the unfamiliar location, ready to head towards what seems to be a town of some sort ahead.

And then.

A vile, vile thing appeared. An infernal pigeon lands near her. An interesting welcome wagon.

SMASH!

And all that remains of the abdominal flying creature is a splattered pile of blood and feathers. Not everything is invincible then. Good. She may not know where she is but things are looking up already, at least.]

That is much better. [With that, she sets off for the town.]

Third Person Sample:

The couple is back again. Their names are Olaf and Elaine. Shale knows this because the newlyweds just will not shut up at saying their names to each other. Must they do this in front of her? Olaf is resting his palm against the statue's leg. No! No! Not after where she knows where that hand has been! Agh, if only she could just...move and smash the man's hand with her foot and send his wife flying to the moon.

"See if it can live happily ever after up there!" She would say if she could. So many things she would do to this blasted village...if she could.

~

The next day, the children are out playing at what seems to be the usual time. This was slightly better than overly affectionate couples. Slightly. At first, she wasn't sure what to make of these children (besides being loud and rambunctious) until one of the older boys started prodding her eye with a stick.

Oh, she will definitely remember this one when the day comes.

~

The birds just shat on her today. If only pure anger would fuel her body to move.

~

The day she had wished sort of came. As dawn broke, the village was under attack. To Shale's disappointment, it wasn't her that was the reason that they were running and soiling their pants. But to her surprise, it was darkspawn. One by one, villagers were being cut down by arrows and swords. Some were even being dragged away- though they moved behind her and thus, out of her field of vision. Obviously, there was little she could do but to watch. She began to wonder: if she could move, would she be killing the darkspawn, as they are a menace, and thus, protect the villagers?

It was not a very difficult dilemma- ah, an arrow just poked her. Anyway, it was not a very difficult dilemma, she would just simply kill them all...if she could. She wasn't one to protect things that enjoy putting flowers on her, leaving bird food on and around her for those fiends to feed on, and on some occasions even defecate on her (not just birds either). Ugh!

Later, much later, Shale didn't know how much later but the golem heard a squeal from one of the genlocks, followed by a large explosion from a fireball. Someone actually came to aid the villagers? ...if there were any left. The small group of four was lead by an elf it seems. With the darkspawn dispatched, the elf approaches her with a control rod- a control rod! But the words he spoke were the incorrect ones. As the group moved behind her to investigate, Shale wasn't sure if she should be glad or not that the rod didn't work. All she could do right now was wait.

app, ooc
