I think we all can agree that Shit's Broke Like. So, what would you do, having working knowledge of the system, to sort it out? When my friend, Serena, thought that she might want to go off disability (sadly, she's too sick now to do anything but wait for God), she couldn't because there was no step-down available to her. For her, it was all or nothing.

My best experience through any of that mess was with Tarrant County Mental Health and Metal Retardation (TC MHMR). In Texas, mental health services are handled on a county level with State funding. Since it is local, it is more accessible and more relevant to the community. Since there are fewer steps between administration and end clients, there is more care. They WANT you to succeed, Heck, I found out the other day that many of the people working there are former clients
