So flying over our building at Dell was a plane with a banner that said: "Look Out Dell... Sun has x64 servers"
Personally, I think they should have said "AMD64" instead of "x64". I'm sure some poeple at Dell will say, "Oh yeah, we've been shipping x64 servers for a while.", but Sun has had Sparc64 servers for... 10 years now?.....

x64 is a poor term

IA64 refers to the arch of the Itanium which isn't backwards compat with IA32. It has some emulation mode that is like 50% slowdown?

AMD64 is clear
EM64T is also clear

AMD64 refers to IA32 with AMD 64bit extensions...EM64T is Intel's name for their compatible with the AMD64 extensions. The IA64 is basically dead.

But ya why is everyone getting excited about 64bit...just because the worst arch EVAR got it? Fuck the x86, seriously.
