My city is wrecked after hurricane force winds ripped through the surrounding area. Trees were uprooted, thrown, and 90% of Duke Energy's customers are without power. We have power, obviously. But this is the only traffic light that works. We drove 45 minutes around town to get food and gas and we couldn't find one place that was open. The only ( Read more... )

does no one eat at home anymore?

what happened to canned goods & bread/preserves? back in the old days, this wouldn't phase anyone - now, suddenly, the world ends for people.

ha.

good thing I bought an economy car.

and its far from wrecked. a few trees fell. people forget how to drive when stop lights stop functioning. woopity doo. I'm in a cranky mood tonight. sorry.

No, I can't eat at home. I didn't buy groceries because I was moving, so no.

Realistically this is the worst blackout we've ever seen, ever. No, we don't have food or gas. So I would appreciate it if you really don't have anything nice to say to just refrain from saying anything at all.

I'm pretty sure the one in 2003 was worse, where it was pitch darkness from Cleveland to New York for over three days. 7.5 million people from 2008 versus 50 million people from 2003.

But it's definitely number two, and the only reason it happened this time was because our good President didn't do anything to repair the grid (on the verge of breaking down entirely) from the last time this happened which apparently made it vulnerable as hell. Supposedly our biggest National Security issue is this power grid that is way out of date and no one wants to fix out of sheer financial accountability... hmm!

Don't be mad at me, be mad at your country for being the main reason you can't eat food.

Where are you moving to? I will give you a hug and cook you din-din.

:)

Yes that one takes the cake, but I was talking about the Cincinnati area. I'm fortunate we didn't go through that one.

We moved down the street in a loft apartment. I'd take you up on that offer but my mother is coming over and I work tomorrow. :(
