I'm sitting here looking at this very pretty ball of yarn I dyed and spun. I learned to knit and while I like it, it doesn't give me the orgasm I want when it comes to the rich goodness of the yarn. I like the yarn all wild and crazy. I like the funky loops....the random squiggles....the way it wraps around itself. So what am I supposed to do ( Read more... )

okay, i kid about the owl, but not about the macrame. or weaving with a back loom? i think knitting and crocheting and all that distance you from the fiber, and i think that deb is the kind of girl who needs to be touching it and rolling around in it while she works, no? a back loom (let me see if that is the right word) is something you can even make yourself...

You could make a small loom pretty easily with cardboard. I weave with kids every year. You cut notches into the cardboard at each end, about a half inch apart, as wide as you want the piece to be. Then you wind the warp string around the cardboard and through the notches. You use your cool yarn to weave horizontally. Get it?

Also, you could hand-stitch it through burlap with a big needle.

i was thinking weaving, too. there are some great looms that can be made out of just about anything- and some that can be bought for not too much..........

i have some things to send- will get them to you soon!
