This week just dragged. Now weekend finally has arrived and I don't know what to do. I mean, I know what I want to do but I'm afraid that there won't be enough time to do everything

"Does anyone else think that the Oscar for Hurt Locker was possible partly because Generation Kill came first, showing the Iraq war in a realistic and trilling way, and showing how soldiers really behaved in the war zone, etc?"
I don't know, but the Matt Damon Iraqi war movie "Green Zone," that was filmed during the summer of 2007, was finally released on March 12th. I was beginning to lose hope of it ever being released! I saw the film on Friday, and I could see its potential to become a political hot button.
The buzz is that Paul Greengrass (the director) didn't want to release it during the U.S. 2008 Presidential election year because he didn't want the film--about a Chief Warrant Officer responsible for tracking down sites of WMDs (weapons of mass destruction) with his team in Iraq in 2003, who uncovers the truth (or the lie)--would play into the political hands of either the Democrats or the Republicans.
That's interesting, thanks for the info. I've heard about "Green Zone" but I didn't know it was filmed in 2007 and I didn't know the story behind the delaying of its release date. I definitely want to watch it. I'm not a big war movie fan, but when I watched HL I saw traces of GK in it, maybe because but movies were based on journalist accounts. *g*
I forgot to mention that the men in Matt Damon's unit in "Green Zone" are actual Iraqi war veterans. Paul Greengrass thought it would lend the film more authenticity and Matt Damon said, though it was intimidating to work with men who had actually done the things he was 'acting,' it helped to have them there. His mannerisms and the way he delivers his lines are courtesy of hints and advice from the vets acting as his 'unit.' It was pretty realistic.
That's awesome because to me the realism is one of the best elements in a war movie. Generation Kill people also had real marines consulting them during the shooting, too, and that definitely helped them to make a great show.:)
