11:13 PM 9/30/07 · I was rather saddened that I couldn't goto the Folsom Street Fair but other pressing matters concerned me. Okay, not really, but still...

It's not the picture, it's the intent. They only chose these images and this position and the obvious singularity of one person in the center, because it represented Jesus.

Why didn't they just have leathered up guys playing poker, instead of dogs? Or perhaps why didn't they have the zombies in a Norman Rockwell Barber shop? Well, because people wouldn't be offended(or amused) as much by it, as it isn't a slight against the person of Jesus.

It isn't the action, it's the intent. I don't see why it's on the news, though. What'd they try to do? Send them to blasphemy prison?

Their intent wasn't to cause problems...though they realized it probably might go down that way. People are natural complainers.

mostly just pull away sponsors from the event.

No, but the significance of the picture is derived from the sanctity of that which is depicted, and the parody artists chose this one because of Jesus, not because of a painter.

THAT is why people get offended.
