250 Blogging

Sep 23, 2006 20:19

(are you reading this, students??) Note to self: make a deadline for the individual blog entries. Only about half the class have posted in their blogs. I foresee having a zillion blogs to read at the end of term, and want to say "NO - this shall not be!" Except the more little deadlines you have in online courses, the more chances you have for ( Read more... )

I'm just getting used to what will be an eventuality in most schools: Ads everywhere. Why not start with LJ? by the time they have billboards up on campus I'll be so used to ads at school, thanks to Enlgish 250, that I'll be totally used to it.

well, I suppose that's a point, but the ones on LJ are so intrusive! I don't mind Google's ads - the ones you get in gmail are pretty much unnoticeable. I imagine we'll be getting them in Writely before long - it's a very good little program and I can see lots of teachers adopting it. I can't believe it'll be free for ever, but because it's Google-owned I'm not too worried about it.

Gawain Hath A Blog Too anonymous September 24 2006, 22:18:14 UTC
http://pweb.jps.net/~sangreal/whw.htm Thinking of your Chaucer Hath A Blog portion of class last week, I came across this website during my research on Gawain for the Journal Assignment. I'm in your 280 class. I laughed as this mother named her son Gawain and then chronicled the similarities between her son and the historical figure. Thought it might be good for a chuckle, read "Excerpts from the Chronicles of one Gawain Roderick Anderson, a Knight"

I am reading it! njabs September 25 2006, 19:41:11 UTC
I like the lack of deadline on the blogs. If I am unable to get to an internet source to upload my blog by a certain date, no deadline helps. Also, I have the enhanced account because that is what it automatically set me up for. I only found the option not to have it when I was roaming my LiveJournal site. I can change it if you want, but there are options when I can load an abundant amount of photos!

Sorry if I sounded grumpy (I _was_ grumpy!) Nicole :) Yeah, it's a fine line about deadlines - some people don't like 'em, some people need 'em. You were one of the first people to post! And, yes, LJ is sneaky about setting the "default" as the one with ads... I am quick to notice that kind of thing but I bet most people just go straight through and notice afterwards. Don't worry about changing! I was just being grumpy :) I want Camosun to provide a blogging system for instructors to use so that we don't have to go through LJ or Blogger!
