Fun With Punctuation

I haven’t had much time to write comedy these past few weeks, but I have been reading about the methods some professionals use to extract humor from a blank page. Here's an example of a ‘before/after’ joke that I enjoyed which uses punctuation for its twist.

The First Draft

Dear John,

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous

Comments

[wyldehunt]

And people say grammar isn't important :)

I know a few "writers" who need to study this joke carefully--and some, I fear, still wouldn't get the point.
