Again not much reading for pleasure this month but this should improve now I have finished my academic modules until September.

That sounds pretty productive for someone working so hard.

We Have Always Lived in the Castle has been on my Ought To Read list for a long time. Now you've put me off by saying it's like Betty Macdonald, whom I heartily dislike. Minority view, I know.

I'm watching the second series of the preposterous Outlander and finding it far less gripping than the first. Fabulous costumes, though.

Actually WHALITC is nothing like Betty Macdonald - it is just the 2 autobiographies that reminded me a bit of her books, with the same domestic type of setting. I gather that domestic humour was quite a thing in mid 20th century America and have just impulse bought a book on the subject.

I am going to read more of her books - I keep seeing references to The Lottery being her masterpiece.
