So this is the plan for today (and it's, what, only 1:15pm?). I want to try and start the application process to an MFA program. To waste time, and make it look like I have been productive, I decided to use the "table" feature in LJ. I think it's under-used and underappreciated. I've heard nothing good about Goddard (having grown up in Vermont), but I definitely encourage you to go for Bennington.

And I tried to get into Emerson's MFA program (and Sarah Lawrence, and Mary Baldwin...). With no success. In fact, I had no success getting into ANY of the 10 programs I applied for. So I'm going the alternative route and getting some field experience first... build up my resumé so it'll help me get into a program later.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the tip about Goddard. You kinda live in a vacuum with these schools, having their websites to go on (and we all know how biased they can be...).

I'm honestly not expecting much, but hoping that my resume and work will speak for itself. If I don't get in, I'll probably end up doing the same thing (building up the resume by working for a publishing company or something).

Good luck to you though... ^_^

I also hear that Goddard is not awesome. I know people who use whether or not someone went to Goddard as a litmus test for worth as a human being. My mom, for example, will say something like "Oh, he went to Goddard" and it's supposed to mean he was yuppy-brainwashed or something.
