Wow! That's a lot! I admit that I had to look up what a Bullace is. It's like a plum?

Hello! How nice to see you here !

A Bullace is a very old variety of small plum, very sharp but excellent in pies, jams and pickles

I'm baaaaaaaaaack. I just started posting again. I've missed this place and my fandom friends. Not many people left, but I'm trying to reconnect. :)

Mmmmmm...pies. I'll have to check around to see if we have any Bullace here. :)

Huzzah!

You're sure to have some wild plum varieties which are similar.. no good to eat raw but lovely in cooking

I've heard of them but I don't think that we have that variety over here.

And that tree is definitely loaded with fruit.

They seem to be an exclusively English thing but you probably have something similar. The tree is distinctly over productive!

That is awesome!! I'd love to get something like that here in Minnesota - it's good when you can pick your fill and know that there's still plenty left for the local wildlife to enjoy. Ever tried making dessert wine out of them?

I should try winemaking but somehow it seems a lot of faff; The fruit is very sharp so would make a dryish wine; hmm may pick a couple of bucketfuls for a wine making friend!

You never know, throw in a few pounds of sugar or honey, and they might wind up with a surprisingly yummy dessert wine!

Woah, what a great crop. As well as freezing will there be lots of pies and crumbles?

I poach and freeze the fruit then make pies and crumbles from it throughout the winter.. also heat it up to pour over ice cream or whip into custard, cream or yoghurt to make fruit fools...or just serve it as compote with porridge or shortbread... mmmmmmm
