The Chapel Ruinous

So. I was based at Nowton today and went for a walk in a different direction to my usual lunchtime stroll.

I was rather stunned to discover that I had apparantly walked into a Sword and Sorcery Novel.

Just look at this!

As I said over there --> it does look like a scene out of a legend (or fantasy) :) Beautiful place, nice find :)

It's like a fairyland, isn't it? Do you have any idea what the ruins are or any way to find out? They intrigue me so much...it does look like a ruined chapel with a baptismal font. I love stumbling on places like this.
:)
And the daffs! They look at their peak!
Gorgeous, Deb!

Yep, I've been doing some reading, it seems that in 1840 St Mary's Church ( one of the great Abbey churches of Bury) was being " restored" and someone decided to take one of the porches off and take it to put in the garden of their mansion as a Folly; odd people the Victorians :) Mind you that avenue of Lime Trees and the Daffodils are the carriage drive leading to the old mansion ( now a nursing home) and the 600 acres of parkland are stunning so strange or not they created an amazing landscape.

The Victorians did have their oddities for sure. But yes, I can see how stunning that landscape is...what does the mansion look like? Has it been altered much outwardly to adapt it to its current use?

The mansion is a typical Victorian " Look how rich I am!" job. I'll take some photos next time I walk in that direction

It's 11 minutes drive from home and ten minutes walk from my office ( which is in the old gardener's cottage just up the drive) I'm amazingly fortunate!
