Holiday Wishes Revisited

Nov 14, 2014 17:06

After forgetting about a fun community for several years, I'm back in the Christmas spirit and have re-joined holiday_wishes. This is a place where people post their holiday wish lists and you can play Santa by making some of their wishes come true. Check it out! I've made a number of lasting friendships by participating.

My 2014 Wish List.

Ah-ha! Well, I have already thought of a rather nifty gift for you -- multi use and topical! -- that I shall hopefully get to you for Christmas. :-D

Woohoo! I am pretty jazzed about Christmas for the first time in about five years. I even unearthed all my cute little kid photos of myself visiting Santa and such and made a Christmas book out of them. :-)

Indeed! It's very odd. I usually like Christmas a lot but I haven't really been feeling it for a while. But this year I'm all woot! :-D

I had a bad experience with Santa as a child which left me with a rather low opinion. I was all of three and three quarters and quite excited to see the mythical man. But when he picked me up, he dug his fingers into my ribs which caused me to glare at him silently the entire visit. This, apparently, unnerved him. Anyway, to top off his crapiness, the gift he gave me was skipping ropes. I was not a skipping rope kind of girl.

I hope your Santa visits were better than mine! (I never went again.)

I really have no actual memories of the particular Santa visits, sadly. I can only judge by my attitude in the photos.

Age 1 - (bored baby) "Um . . . Where am I? Who are you? What's going on?"
Age 2 - (crying) "DO NOT WANT!"
Age 3 - (skeptical and distracted) "OK, whatever, mister, am I done?"
Age 4 - (happy at last) "Santa! Yay! This is awesome!"
Age 5 - (the poised little lady) "Now. This is my list. Listen closely."
Age 6 - (neutral) "This is sorta fun, but I'd rather be at home playing."
Age 7 - (sneaky) "You know and I know this is a scam, but let's play along.
Age 8 - (amused) "Ha Ha, quick take the photo before anyone sees me!"
