Women had to push hard to get the vote.  Many don't know what it took.

This is the story of our Grandmothers and Great-grandmothers; they lived only 90 years ago. Of course, Hawaii didn't really get to vote federally until after statehood in 1959. Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted the right to go to the polls and vote.

I knew the general outlines of the women's-suffrage movement, but I had no idea about the violent response that they got. Thanks for posting this.
