in the mid 90's and ended up meeting someone from the next town (I have an unusual surname) ... and Sharon & I are still friends.

I love that. Some of the gals I met through the Lord of the Rings fandom as early as 2002 are still very good friends.

Yes, last time I saw Sharon (she had an appt at the hospital) we actually laughed about our TV evenings, after fencing ... they were fun Thursdays!
