Other Characters Played: a lot Cho Hakkai, Yoshiya "Joshua" Kiryu, Haseo
Series: Black Cat
Character: Train Heartnet (Yes, Black Cat has some of the best-named characters. Ever.)
Timeline: Manga-verse; at Chapter 22, before "fishing" Gyanza Legic.
Personality: The best way to describe Train is 'carefree' - he only thinks of the present, doesn't care much about consequences, and is very, very impulsive. Worrying is not part of his vocabulary, either - he does things first, and thinks of things later. He does what he wants and lives what he wants. He values his freedom. If you ask him to describe himself, he would reply and say that he's a "stray cat".
But he wasn't like that before. Thanks to his rather tormenting past, Train was actually the opposite of his current self - cold, emotionless, bleak. He didn't care about others, didn't want them to help him, and the only thing that mattered to him was to become stronger. He followed Chronos' orders without question, even if he's taking lives. He was their "pet cat".
Not anymore, thanks to Saya. He's completely changed, much to Creed's despair.
Still, shadows of his past remain. Piss him off, and you're dead (but not literally - see below). Not only that, he's so used to assassinating before he's capable of releasing amounts of killing intent at will. (Well, he only uses it to scare and intimidate people nowadays). But Train's now a pacifist, and refuses to kill people needlessly. He believes that people should be given second chances, regardless of what they did.
There's one exception, though - Creed. But that's personal. Besides, Says wouldn't want him to take revenge, so he's rather lost on the idea.
Train is mostly seen as an idiot, covering his heroic reasons by some simple, meaningless one. He usually does things that gives him a disadvantage, but he has enough confidence to believe that will win (and he says he does those things so they would be "more fun"). He also has the tendencies to be dramatic, usually appearing just in time, only for his friends to find out that he was already there by that time, and was just waiting for the perfect moment.
Also, he is easily bribed with food.
Train is known to rather take his title to heart - he is known for having cat-like features, such as slitted eyes and his bell choker. He also loves milk and seafood.
Background: Train's story starts when he comes home one day, after, perhaps, having a normal time, and sees both his parents lying on a puddle of blood.
Hoo, boy. Awesome start, isn't it?
And if that's not bad enough, there's also a man there - the one who asassinated his parents, Zaguine Axeloake. Zaguine then aims the gun at one scared, young, Train. Asking him if he wants to live, or die. Train decides that wants to live, and so Zaguine takes him in as a student (sort of). He then tells Train that if he wants to live, he must learn how to survive. And so, he teaches the kid on how to kill.
Yep, you can definitely count this as brainwashing.
And so Train was taught on how to use a gun, which is undeniably one of the most portable and useful weapons in the world. His goal was to avenge his parents, and frequently attempts to ambush Zaquine, all of which ended up in failure. Eventually, his goal became Zaquine himself, and to be able to be stronger than him. However, sooner then, Train finds Zaguine covered up in blood, dying. Train then revealed his true intentions, angry that he wasn't the one who killed him. Zaquine then gives him one last lesson - if Train to become stronger than him, he would have to live. And so, Train was left alone again.
At this point, Train was ten years old.
No one knows what Train did after that, but it was definite that he was a crimminal - a murderer at that time. Until he met a member of Chronos, Karl, who took care of him for about three to four years.
Now, Chronos is their world's largest organization, even though it's known to be an underground one. It rules a third of the world's economy, controlling almost any kind of business in the shadows. Their goal? World peace. However, some people are deemed to be dangeorus or against Chronos, which is why they have Erasers - assassins. Soon later, Train decided to become one. He was then partnered, at times, with Creed Diskenth, who is also known to have his own dark, terrible, past. Soon later, he becomes obssessed with Train, especially his cold personality, believing him to be the only one who can relate to him. Then, at the age of eighteen, Train was promoted into a Chronos Number - the elite of the Erasers. He was then Number XIII, and was gifted with the gun Hades.
His popularity in the underground then went up. He was known never to fail any of his missions, and complete them with terrible presicion. He was named as the "Black Cat", due to his stealth and the belief that he brings bad luck to all who goes against his way. However, he never kills children or women, and does his best to only assassinate the target. This, however, became his flaw - eventually, he failed to kill his target. It was easy to kill him, if not for the fact that his child was also around. In return, Train suffered a shot to the shoulder, and was forced to retreat.
That was when he met Saya Minatsuki, a Sweeper. Sweepers are bounty hunters. They cannot, however, kill their targets - they won't get money if they do.
Saya was unlike anyone Train met before - she was lively, carefree, and happy-go-lucky. Somehow, she was able to form an unlikely friendship with Train, and eventually taught him the meaning of 'freedom'. Saya was also the reason why Train was able to smile. Eventually, Train's change on his personality also started to leave a mark on his record - he started to stop killing his targets. This, of course, infuriated many people.
But no one was more enraged than Creed.
The Train he grew to love has disappeared, only replace by a personality he deemed unlikeable. He was obssessed enough to actually try and find a way to revert Train back to what he was, no matter the costs. And so, a thought crossed his mind - the one who was at fault was that "witch", Saya! So if he kills her, the "curse" she placed on Train would dissapear! And indeed, he killed her.
Train noticed that something wrong was going on, but he came too late. He only encountered Saya, who told him to "forget" about her. She then died underneath a sky full of fireworks.
Later, Train faked his death and left Chronos. He was 21 years old.
Train then had no idea what to do. He was definitely enraged at Creed - hell, he wanted to kill that man - but Saya wouldn't want him to, so Train was lost. He did, however, decided on becoming a Sweeper - after all, it suited his personality best. He then partnered with Sven Vollfied, and for two years they did their jobs without any unusual event.
They then stumbled upon a thief named Rinslet Walker, who wanted to hire them for a job. She wanted the two to capture Torneo Rudman, who was known to be related with nanomachine work. However, during their pursuit, they also met Eve, a genetically engineered bio-weapon, having the ability to transform parts of herself into different objects. She was Torneo's, and Torneo is determined to have her become an emotionless killing machine. However, both Sven and Train refuse that to happen, and so they rescued Eve as well. During the interrogation, however, Torneo revealed someone involved in the nanotechnology business - Creed. Train, who had been searching him for years, went berserk and demanded more information, but Torneo knows nothing else. Their job done, the group leaves, taking Eve with them.
Later on, however, Creed manages to find data on that incident. He then proceeded to kidnap Rinslet hostage, forcing Train to come after him. Then, Creed tries to persuade Train to join his cause to rule the world, one that Train immediately refuses. A fight ensures, leaving Train to escape from Creed's grasp.
Deciding that he didn't want to get involved, Train then decides to continue their Sweeping business. He then gets a video tape from Karl (the one who took him in when he was a child), asking him to sweep a man named Gyanza Legic, who had been causing chaos in his city. Wanting to pay him back, Train agrees to cooperate.
...And then he ends up in Adstringendum.
Abilities/Additional Notes: Train has two strengths - speed and precision.
Spending most of his lifetime fighting, Train has achieved enough experience to react on most situations from instinct. He can dodge most attacks by this way, and his reflexes are known to be sharp, saving him from lethal damage even at point blank (and yes, he can also dodge bullets). Furthermore, he is incredibly fast, both on firing (he can make bullets hit at the same time) and in running.
However, Trains' true ability is best seen whenever he wields a gun - or, specifically, his own gun. Hades, as it is named, is no ordinary gun - it has been a gift to Train when he was promoted to a Chronos Number. It's a decorated gun, weighing 2.5 kg and can store 6 shots per round. It is made out of a special metal called Orchalcum and thus cannot be harmed by normal weapons. In fact, Train can use it as a shield. His marksmanship is considered superior, able to fire bullets in rapid succession, and with pinpoint precision. He can even deflect bullets in mid-air simply by firing back at them. He is also known to use the technique 'reflect shot', where one intentionally fires a bullet at another area, and have it bounce back to the real target, making it harder to dodge. The reason he can do this is because his eyes are six times better than an ordinary human. Hades also has a cord attached to it, allowing Train to throw his pistol as an attack and retract it later on. While originally left-handed, Train has trained to become ambidextrous.
He also has a couple of special bullets, cortesy of Sven. There are various effects, depending on which one Train uses - like having powder that makes someone cry a lot, paralyze them, freeze them, etc. He also has smoke bombs whenever he needs to escape.
He has several weaknesses, too - for one, he refuses to kill anyone if he could help it. Moreseo if someone's a woman and/or a child. And with abilities like that, Train's bound to have high metabolism, making him hungry a lot faster than normal (heck, he is the reason why they always end up in poverty!).
(Also, not sure if this is considered as an ability or not, but whenever Train releases a wave of murderous intent, most people get scared or run away. The cat-like eyes doesn't help, either.)
Sample Journal Post: [[ooc; the entire sample is in voice post - Train thought that the PCD was still his cellphone, and attempted to call Sven. Let's say the world's evil to him and broadcasted his message in the entire network.]]
Hey, Sven! What's with the 'leave a message after the beep' thing? You didn't give me that one in my cellphone, you cheat!
Well, anyway, something weird happened. I ended up in this reaaaaally strange, empty place in Rubeck City! I didn't get lost, I swear! Someone just knocked me out and dropped me here! It's a really bad place, too - no people, no working buildings, and worst of all, no food stalls! How are we supposed to eat dinner after this?
Well, I'll try to get back there as best as I can. Keep an eye on the lil' princess, alright? Make sure you don't get pulverized by the target without me - that's our meal ticket!
Sample RP: Admist the crowd in the city, three figures ran across, locked in a chase. Two were partners, running away from the third one, who was running towards them with childlike excitement. It was not an unusual scene these days, and most knew what was going on - those two were criminals, and the last one was a Sweeper.
Train was the one one chasing them, and boy, he was enjoying every part of it! The challenge, the chase, the capture... Yes, this is the thrill one can only get by having the life of a Sweeper! Who cares if they were just small fries worth twenty thousand? As long as the chase was fun, Train was good with it. Heh, once we capture them, we can go for a nice lunch and eat some really good food! This words crossed his mind as he ran along.
No, the thought of having 15 million on their debts didn't cross his mind.
When the three plunged in to a rather populated area, the two almost cheered. They were safe! There's no way that Sweeper would draw his gun in this place! However, their hopes were crushed the moment people started to scream and scramble - they looked behind, and saw Train preparing to shoot. Was he mad?! He can hit someone if he misses!
But Train was confident in his markmanship - targeting someone in a dense crowd? Hah, piece of cake.
It only took him seconds to find an opening. Suddenly, he fired towards the first man, the bullet hitting him straight in the face. His companion stood in shock. Wait a minute, aren't Sweepers forbidden to kill their targets? Train, however, seemed to have read his mind and smirked without worry.
"Hey, he's not yet dead, you know."
Indeed, he wasn't. Instead, he was crying rivers of tears, complaining about his eyes hurting. His companion stared at disbelief. What kind of bullet was that...?
And then he remembers that he was still escaping from the Sweeper. But all was too late, as Train shot him square in the face with the same kind of bullet.
