It is that time of year again, ladies and gentlemen. The temperature is dropping, the sky is transforming from blue to gray, and more and more often we see people walking around with enough padding to suit NFL players. Ah, yes... flu season ( Read more... )

Yes, but getting sick, possibly even fatally ill, should be less appealing in the long run.

There would be a higher likelihood of that being just so were you perhaps more into your adult years rather than being one so young. The risk of infection increases exponentially when an individual spends a great deal of time around other people, especially crowds. You cannot guarantee their lack of infection, which is why getting the vaccination is a prime way to prevent getting sick in the first place.

Are you aware that a vaccination you might have received last year is quite possibly going to be ineffective this year due to how rapidly the influenza virus changes over time? It is best to stay up to date on these things, wouldn't you agree? Especially given that the influenza virus is considered potentially deadly in humans. ♥

It is, though if one takes the proper precautionary procedures, it is not such a dreadful season to endure.

Far too...cold for my liking, either way.

There is a remedy for that, as well.

Flu shot...?

I haven't... I don't intend to. Vaccinations can do terrible things to people.

Do you know if there is an alternative for those who dislike shots?

There is something called FluMist, actually. It is a nasal spray vaccine that is often available in good supply when there seem to be shortages of vaccination flu shots. There are, of course, a few stipulations. Only healthy individuals between the ages of 2 to 49 are eligible to receive FluMist. Also, it tends to be more expensive than the flu shot itself, and most insurance companies don't cover FluMist. Also important to note is that FluMist should not be given to anyone, especially young children, with any egg allergies ( ... )
