Thank you! That's so kind! I'm really glad you liked this section.

you meant to have Reid apologizing for being emo, right, and not being a flightless bird? (emo/emu)

Hee! No, it's been so long since the last section was posted that no one will remember, but Reid (in the tub) accuses himself of "looking like an emu". Though it kinda works either way, but I was trying to just pinpoint that section of the scene rather than all the *other* things he was being emo about. *g* (There were a lot of them.)

Know what you mean about the pairing, I have to push myself to look at Morgan or Gideon pairing stories, so I'm really glad you took a chance on this one. :-)

Man, you are FAST! *g* I just now got and replied to your first comment!

I'm probably going to have to write something about Haley in this series, whether I want to or not. Heh. I'm picturing her as totally not pitiable, very much her own person etc., but, I have to admit I would not want to be competing with Reid for anyone's time and attention!

*G*

I am so glad that you updated. Of course I haven't been drumming my fingers impatiently. Not at all. *wink*

I really love the way you are getting into both of their heads - dealing with how the dynamic between them has changed, how they are readjusting their relationship, what they are learning about each other and how on earth you do that while trying to catch a serial killer.

"You know, I learn from you every day. It's one of the reasons I came to care for you, the way you give of yourself without thought. It's part of the courage I was talking about. You tackle anything as if it were a puzzle that could be solved with the right piece of information."

I think this is a wonderfully accurate description of Reid and a lovely example of how perceptive Hotch is.

And now I am going to drift off, thinking of sleeping Hotch in his burgundy pjs . . .

Great stuff and looking forward to more.

oh, and I thought I had misread "emu" for a second, but then that description Reid had given of himself came back to me. It was a fairly memorable one!

Hee! This is the price one pays for not updating for [mumble] months.

I should find out what sound an emu makes...

So glad you liked it! Hardly anybody has read it yet, because you know, Hotch, I guess, the Married Man. *g* One reason I didn't post this section sooner was I didn't think it had much going on in it, and felt insecure, thought I should wait till the next part was also ready, etc. etc., so I'm especially glad that you found stuff in it to hug. *smile* Enjoy Hotch's jammies.

Okay, I've been re-reading this series, and I have to say, I'm now utterly captivated by the idea of a slightly sadistic Hotch.

Mua-ha-ha-ha...

Do you mind if I play with concept of Sadistic!Hotch/Reid in a fanfic? You totally get to say no.

Play away! Definitely not a copyrighted concept, and I'm sure other people have messed around with it out there too, before I did. Go nuts!

Angst -- always in style!

At least for those of us with discriminating taste. Mua-ha.

One of the things I love about this series (aside from the fabulous characterization and gorgeous prose and detailed sense of place) is that the mystery has to do with online culture and science fiction. It makes it that much more mine as I read, especially with Reid and Hotch trying to figure out what the connection could be among the victims.

To tie all that together with Reid and Hotch dealing with the aftermath of their first night together is almost too delicious for words. And Hotch's realization of how deeply he was affected by Reid's ordeal in Georgia, and his awareness that he can't let Reid know, was a wonderful piece of extrapolation.

I'm so glad you've finished with this part, and am eager to see the next one.

Thank you! I'm so pleased that you liked it and I'll really try to get the next bit up a lot faster. *smile*

I wondered if the sf/fandom connection might be a bit much, so I'm glad you think it works okay! Plot is not my favorite thing to write, I have to take shelter from time to time in some pure Reid&Hotchness. They're so much more fun than serial murderers! :-)
