Numb3rs and Moonlight -- casting SPOILER for Moonlight

Taped season openers for Numb3rs and Moonlight and watched them last night. Sadly, Numb3rs has elected to make itself really unwatchable with mal-de-mer-cam and idiotic pass-betweens on every shot. I won't reveal the Amazing Unforeseen Development (yes, that was sarcasm) for those who want to remain unspoiled ( Read more... )

I watched both of these. I wasn't so disenchanted with the new episode of Numb3rs but I can't say I was greatly enamored of it either. I liked Moonlight and was also delighted to see Jason Dohring. Did you know that Kristen Bell will be in Heroes for a number of episodes? Actually the biggest surprise that I liked was Life. It's another show with a "quirky" main character but I liked it. Tomorrow night is the second episode of Chuck. I liked it okay but am not sure the premise can hold my attention. Heroes of course is on and after that is the second episode of Journeyman. I had hopes for Journeyman but it didn't really meet my expectations in the first episode. I'll watch it again tomorrow in the hopes that it is better. Otherwise I'll actually try to go read a book or something equally entertaining. Maybe I'll record Big Bang Theory which I haven't watched but hold no high hopes for it either. Tonight was the season premiere of Dexter and the next to last episode for this season of Side Order of Life. War is on ( ... )

The Numb3rs plot and dialog weren't too bad, but the camerawork and editing were absolutely hideous, I can't imagine what possessed them to let the director employ such awful and I keep hoping such PASSE techniques. Camera movement on EVERY damn shot, for no freaking reason, long-focus with people walking between the subject and the lens (I've even seen this done on CLOSE-UPS in the most drastic cases of directorial cloth-headedness), hand-held rubbish, swoopy cuts and flashes -- all the "I'M the real star of this show" nonsense directors pull when they have no care at all for the viewer or the program. gah.

I read about Kristen Bell, sounds fun, but NBC has such a poor signal here that I probably won't watch it. Same, alas, for Journeyman. I don't have cable. Even Fox has started to go berserk periodically, sigh, one of my main tv channels. I mainly tape stuff now, since it's hard for me to get back and forth to the living room. Very ticked that Bones was moved to conflict with NCIS!
