I just read the entire series in one go and I have to say I really like it. Not only are the Hotch/Reid interactions really hot but the case they are trying to solve is very intersting. What you said in one of the earlier 'chapters' about fans all the way in Sweden(?) knowing that everyone was ok in San Francisco(?), was that true?

Hee, love that Gandalf roadsign icon!

Yep, totally true. Nothing quite like the (science fiction) fannish grapevine. Although Chip Delany wrote an interesting piece about similar word-of-mouth swiftness in the black community. Some fans are even shortwave radio buffs. Of course now that everyone has email and chat and texting and whatnot fan communication is even faster. A sad recent example was when the son of science fiction writer Michael Bishop was among the victims of the Virginia Tech campus massacre. I don't know if he himself was fannishly connected but sf fans all knew about it within a day because of the connection to an sf writer.

Thanks so much for commenting, I'm really glad you're enjoying the story and the Hotch/Reid.

A little late in posting this...*G*

Lovely continuation of the series, you write the characters very well.

Loved Reid's orgasmic revelation--and Hotch taking it totally in stride, bless him. Also, the contrast between Reid's unease with nudity and Hotch's complete comfort with it (and the thought of naked!Hotch...mmmmm).

I really enjoyed this bit...look forward to more!

Thank you! Hope my poor old Netscape will continue to be able to cope with LJ, they just did a really destructive "upgrade" of some kind (putting SnapShots on the outside links, for one, a more useless frill I can scarcely imagine) and it's slowed down my ability to use LJ hideously. Hate to think what it will do to posting.

I only just started reading Criminal Minds fic the other day, so I'm late finding this, but it's brilliant writing. You've nailed the characters' voices, and you write the profiling elements convincingly.

I dreamed of Hotch and Reid all night last night. I woke every hour wanting to jump out of bed to read more of this series. So I finally gave up a little while ago, and finished reading to this point. It's now 6:38 a.m. on a Saturday, and I'm glad to have risen this early to finish.

The way you imagine Hotch when he's alone with Reid in the hotel room.... I wish we could see something like it in the show. You make him beautiful. Not that the man doesn't look stunning, but you make what's inside a reflection of what's outside.

And the darkness in him, too.... Wow. The sadist lurking within.

I can't wait to read more, and I'm friending you, if you don't mind.

Thanks for reading and commenting! It's always great to have new people coming to CM fandom. If you haven't already found them, LJ has bau_fic, cm_slash and CriminalXMinds and so on. Also ff.net has a CM section. Among private pages, Rushlight's is pretty triff.

I shall friend you back, when I get my addled mind together to update my flist. I'm hoping to have the next chapter of this series up fairly soon. I don't know if you noticed the dates, but sad so say I'm a very slow writer. So hope the links above help. *g*

"The Cold Equations"!

!!!

Nice. That would also make the unsub a reluctant villain in his own mind, really just another force of nature...

I just found this series and I'm really enjoying the characterizations you've written. Two things in this chapter really jumped out at me as particularly interesting:

The ref to 'Cold Equations' is awesome. I've loved that story for years and recommend it to all my nerdy friends.

Love the mention of Reid not being able to drive because of seizures. I never thought about that, but it's a brilliant insight.

Now I'm off to read the last part! Hopefully you'll find inspiration to write more.
