Age/Birthday: October 31st, 1984 (29)
Where is your character from originally?: Cork, Ireland
Was your character voluntarily or involuntarily committed to this institution?: Involuntarily
Has your character previously been diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder? What is their current diagnosis?: Christian has been diagnosed with Antisocial Personality Disorder
Which, if any, medications have they been on? What are they currently taking? Are there any allergies we should know about?: None.
Does your character have suicidal thoughts? If so, how often? Have they ever intentionally self-harmed?: Christian has been known to use self-harm as a form of manipulation towards others. He will claim he is not suicidal, but he has cut deep enough to require hospitalization in the past.
What are their treatment goals?: As mandated by a court-order, Christian is to attend therapy sessions in order help change the way of thinking that leads to many of his behaviourisms. It's an association between those behaviours and the proper emotions or interpretations that should occur (ie, the difference between right and wrong.)
Does your character have a criminal record? Do you consider them to be a danger to themselves or others at this time?: Christian has a long-standing record of petty thefts and minor assault charges. It is uncertain whether he really is a threat, but recommendations have been made to keep an eye on him none-the-less.
Give us a general family history for your character (1-2 paragraphs minimum): Christian was born in Cork, Ireland, and was a child of the system from a young age. He moved between foster homes, labelled as a trouble maker who didn’t get along with the other children or his foster parents. He was known to lie, get into fights, and was never able to develop proper relationships with his foster siblings. Repeat incidences at school of disinterest and bullying led his foster parents to receive recommendation that they visit a doctor to see if there were much larger issues at hand.
He began therapy sessions at age 14, though they didn't do much to help Christian. He would seem very disinterested, or would take command over the group, judging those around him, and developing false relationships with the other group members if he thought there was something to gain by doing so. By the time he reached his mid-teens, Christian had grown into quite the charismatic boy, assuring his foster family that he no longer needed the therapy sessions (largly in part because the other members realized what his true intentions were when he tried to use them for personal gain). He easily convinced the doctor the same thing through a combination of charm and pathological lying.
It wasn't until several years later, when Christian was caught for stealing and sexual assault of a store clerk that the new recommendations came through, by way of a court-order, to send him to a proper psychiatric hospital for treatment and observation. He was admitted to St. Patrick’s Hospital in Dublin, Ireland for formal help and supervision at the age of 17. The treatments here seemed to go even better than the group sessions before. Christian looked like he was making friends, and would gradually spend less and less time in his room. He would still get into trouble, getting into arguments and fist-fights, and the orderlies would still receive complaints about mental abuse and possible theft from the boy. Each time he was approached about it though, he would fabricate a story to twist the other patient's words and make it seem like they were personally trying to attack him.
As Christian became older, and moved from the definition of 'child' to 'adult', he began to find ways to escape for day trips, slipping out from under the staff's noses as often as he could. The constant violations of trust were what caused the transfer for Christian to an American institution that the doctors at St Pats believed to be much more sophisticated and experienced with patients who suffered from similar issues to Christian's.
Is there anything else you would like us to know about your character? Preferences for roommates, general concerns, etc?: Christian is self-destructive, and brings an air of chaos with him wherever he goes. He'll seem grumpy or irritable with those he thinks are wasting his time. By court-order he should have a roommate, and it is recommended that the roommate not be that of the opposite sex.
