I cannot believe they punished you...I am glad you felt it was worth it and kept fighting for what you believe in.

Fuck em all.

I just told a bunch of my friends the story of Matthew Shepard a couple weeks ago, they were all disgusted. I was just surprised they hadn't heard of it.

A couple of years ago (it must be around 10 now) a guy was attacked and tortured to death for the same reason in Sweden. We attended a lecture about the guy when I was in Junior High and I can still remember it as if it was yesterday.

I come from a small "anti-gay" town as well so I can relate to you 100%. It sickens me that teachers are allowed to do such a thing.

OMG, that is appalling that this happened to you at school. Good for you that you stood up for yourself and continue to. In New Zealand, we are FINALLY in the process of abolishing the so-called "homosexual panic" defence - where someone can claim provocation as a defence to murder, on the basis that the person they killed made an "unwanted gay advance." It is sickening that this was even legal in the first place.

But yay about a celebration of the Laramie Project. I love the play (and the movie!).
