Thoughts About the New Fall Season

(Otherwise known as yes, I do watch shows other than Haven.)

Nothing particularly spoilery, but put under a spoiler cut anyhow just to be nice.

Sleepy Hollow, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, The Tomorrow People, Bones, The Mentalist, Supernatural, Castle, Once Upon a Time

I'm still liking Sleepy Hollow, enough to put up with Global's crappy streaming. Mostly because there are pretty people. And I have too little knowledge of the Bible to be bothered by anything.

Agents of SHIELD is still being watched because it's mildly entertaining and on a channel that streams well. ;) I have zero background knowledge of anything so all the Coulson stuff is, "Who the heck is this guy?", but I can generally follow along well enough (except I think I'm supposed to like him but I don't?). At this point, wouldn't bother me overly if it were cancelled ( ... )

I wouldn't know the Four Horsemen if they were solely Biblical, but they've made their way into enough fantasy fiction so that I recognize them. (If you haven't read "Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchitt - you should.)

Coulson was a minor character in a few of the Avengers!verse movies. No more than 20 minutes of screen time combined. Not enough to really develop his character at all. The only real change is that they made him more of a leader and less of a liaison in Agents of.

I think Backett's actually DHS (Dept. Homeland Security), but I'm not certain.

That makes me wonder if they will replace Red John with a different story arc, or just settle into murder-of-the-week. It's nice that they're resolving it before they get potentially cancelled.

You're just as well having missed Pelant. He was a supergenius supervillain that was perfect at everything - better than all of the team at their own jobs.

We Canucks do know what DHS stands for, you know. :p~

I can't picture The Mentalist introducing another arc, unless it's a mini one along the lines of Volker last season. Which is just as well because I find that I rarely like the big mytharcs of my TV shows. (The X-Files? Couldn't care less about the Samantha/conspiracy storylines. Stargate SG-1? Goa'uld eps bored me to tears most of the time. Atlantis? Don't much care about the Wraith. etc, etc.)

Gah, I hate those types of supervillains. Too contrived. Ultimately very boring.

Except I take it back, I think it's the Office of the Attorney General.

I can name exactly one Canadian law enforcement organization. (The Mounties!)

I feel much the same way about extended story arcs. Every now and then, one will blow my socks off (Haven). Usually, they stay on.
