Happy New Year, folks! As usual, I find myself with the typical backlog of New Year's posts waiting to be written: a book post, a post in which I think about goals and plans for the coming year, a post in which I tell you about the fascinating and strange museum that Ms. E and I visited on my birthday... But I'll start with the books ( Read more... )

I only read 19 books this year and I don't know why.. I guess I was much busier but it still makes me sad. 32 is pretty good!

I'm happy with 32! I started setting numerical goals a couple of years ago, after I realized that I had only read 22 books in 2010--that made me sad too, so I get where you're coming from.

Oh, that's a fascinating list!

I wanted to pick "Tree of Codes" for a while now - I actually read "Street of Crocodiles" this year because I knew it as based on this book. But I did not come around to buy it yet, but I find the experimental form fascinating.

Tree of Codes is very interesting. I read it without having read Street of Crocodiles (although I want to read it, and keep meaning to get my hands on a copy...), and I'm sure that the experience of reading it would be different whether one has or hasn't read Street of Crocodiles. If you do read it, I'd love to know what you think!

This is so impressive. How on earth do you read so much? I will never be able to read so much in a year. I know some people read even more -- my beloved mentor reads about 200 books a year, but he doesn't sleep much -- but this is still a great list. Now, if LJ can start loading pages properly, I can read some of your reviews. Happy new year!

This is nice to hear! I've been seeing lists here on LJ from people who read lots more than me--some in the more believable 50 or 60 range, others way up in the hundreds!--and it's been making me feel a little inadequate with my list of 32. A foolish way to feel, of course, but that didn't stop me feeling it! So thanks.
